Let's Go Peay! | An Austin Peay State Teambuilder Dynasty (NCAA 14)

Introduction

My favorite thing to do in NCAA Football 14 is to take a 1 star prestige school and build them up into a Powerhouse... Because of that, I want to take a small break from my Tennessee Dynasty to do Team Builder dynasty featuring the Austin Peay State Governors.

Why I Chose Austin Peay

I chose Austin Peay State because I've been intrigued by their new head coach, Will Healy and his very good 2016 recruiting class. Healy was hired in December of 2015 and in just 2 months, brought in the #5 rated FCS Recruiting Class. The 2016 class was the highest rated signing class in program history. Now, before Healy was hired, APSU's previous coach had a record of 1-34 in 3 years at the school. So, Healy has quite the challenge ahead of him because as you can tell, there isn't too much talent on the roster. Due to the awful record over the past 3 years, I have given Austin Peay an awful roster (53 overall).

For the sake of the dynasty, we'll say that Austin Peay is entering the FBS starting in the 2018 season, taking the place of Idaho who will drop down to FCS. Due to Idaho moving to the FCS starting in 2018, I will simulate the 2016 season and I will begin playing games starting in the 2017 season. 2017 will be used as the transitional year for Austin Peay to begin FBS play.

Recruiting Rules

I want to keep this pretty realistic, so I'm going to stick to an offensive and defensive system and specifically recruit to it. On offense, I'm going to use the Spread Option playbook and on Defense I'm going to use the 4-2-5 as my base Defense. So when I recruit players, I'm going to recruit a player based on specific tendencies and not based solely on a high overall (like my Tennessee Dynasty). Here are my requirements for each position:

QB: Scrambler
HB: Speed
WR: Speed
OL: Balanced or Pass Block Tendency
DL: Pass Rusher Tendency
LB: Coverage Tendency
DB: Coverage or Balanced Tendency

About Austin Peay State University

Austin Peay State University (APSU) is located in Clarksville, TN. Clarksville is about 45 minutes northwest of Nashville, TN.

APSU opened in 1927 as a Junior College but quickly expanded into a public, 4 year university.

Currently, APSU has almost 10,000 undergraduate students and was named the fastest growing university in the state of Tennessee. The 2016 Freshman class is a big reason why APSU is the fastest growing university in Tennessee, as it is the largest Freshman class in school history.

Austin Peay Football History

The Austin Peay Governors played it's first football game in 1930. Since then, the Governors football program has not seen a lot of success. The football program has an all-time record of 276-473-16 which is only a .371 winning percentage.

From 2013-2015 Austin Peay had a combined record of 1-34... But there is hype building around the program due to new head coach Will Healy and his ability to recruit... Evidenced by the 2016 Signing Class which was the #5 FCS Recruiting Class and was the highest rated recruiting class in Austin Peay history. And he only had about 2 months to work on the class.

The Governors play at Fortera Stadium on campus. In 2014, the stadium began a $16.9 million renovation project that replaced the west side grandstands with a new structure that includes state of the art amenities for student athletes, coaches and fans. The renovation also added skyboxes and new club-type seating.

This looks really interesting. I've always wanted to do a teambuilder dynasty, but never have had the time or patience. Good luck!
