Re: Bringing Back the Bite - The Cleveland Browns

TEAM NEWS

Browns sign Mark Sanchez

After a less than impressive performance by Cody Kessler the Browns have signed veteran quarterback Mark Sanchez. The move comes after the Browns coaching staff expressed a lack of faith in Kevin Hogan, the only other active quarterback on the roster besides Kessler.

Sanchez has played for the Jets, Eagles and Broncos. He was cut before the regular season began by the Broncos after they decided to go with Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemien at quarterback.

"Cody's our guy." Hue Jackson said after the move was announced. "We just need to have that insurance policy in place."

Terms of the deal with Sanchez were not announced.

In order to make room on the roster the Browns released tight end Connor Hamlett from the practice squad and moved linebacker Dominique Alexander down to the practice squad.

Sanchez will travel with the team to Tennessee this Sunday.

INTRODUCING
ROOKIE ROULETTE!

I've seen this done on NCAA but not in Madden. Now that we can edit players this is doable. Basically you pick the position and player type then I will give you some incoming rookies to choose from. You pick one then you can change everything except the ratings. Then each week you will see updates on your player as they make their way through their NFL careers.

DEMARCO MURRAY RAN 77 YARDS FOR A TD ON TENNESSEE'S FIRST PLAY

WRIGHT TIME, WRIGHT PLACE
Browns collapse in fourth quarter leads to Titans win

Nashville, Tennessee -
Tennessee's DeMarco Murray ran for a 77 yard touchdown on the Titans first play of the game. En route to the score he made more than one Browns defender look downright foolish.

"I knew it was six pretty early in the run." Murray explained after the game. "Once I got to about the 40 and we made that last block I knew."

Despite having all the wind knocked out of their sails so quickly the Browns played a close, hard fought game the rest of the way.

Just a few plays later Cody Kessler connected with Josh Gordon on a 50/50 ball that he pulled down in front of Perrish Cox and took into the endzone for a 68 yard score.

Murray added another touchdown run late in the quarter to make it 14-7 Tennessee after a quarter.

Cleveland brought the fireworks in the second quarter, outscoring the Titans 18-0 to take a 25-14 lead into halftime.

After a 46 yard field goal by Travis Coons early in the quarter Kessler hooked up with Gordon again for a score, this time for 53 yards out. Cox was once again the victim on the play.

"I saw Cox was pressing so I knew Josh would be able to beat him if there was no help over the top." Kessler said of the play.

The safety help cheated to the opposite side of the field to help with Corey Coleman and Andrew Hawkins, leaving Gordon wide open for the score.

Kessler hit Gary Barnidge in the endzone for the two point conversion, giving the Browns an 18-14 lead.

After a Tennessee punt the Browns drove down to the Tennessee 15 yard line and with nine seconds left in the half lined up for a field goal on third down. Britton Colquitt took the snap and rolled to his right before throwing to a wide open Barnidge who got into the endzone untouched.

"It was a great play call." Barnidge said. "We'd been running it a lot in practice and it was the perfect spot for it there."

Each team hit a field goal in the third quarter, making the score 28-17 Browns going into the fourth.

That's where things unraveled for Cleveland as they hit an early field goal then gave up two quick Marcus Mariota to Kendall Wright touchdowns, making it 31-31 late in the game.

Cleveland regained the lead on a 36 yard Coons field goal with under two minutes to play.

Miscommunication in pass coverage led to an easy 42 yard Mariota touchdown pass to Rishard Matthews.

Cleveland was forced to use their final timeout when Barnidge was shaken up with 15 seconds left to play and ran out of time in Tennessee territory.

Cleveland drops to 2-4 with the loss and will travel to Cincinnati next week to face the 2-4 Bengals.

Seems like you're off to a decent start to your season at 2-4, at least for Browns standards lol. Do you plan on developing Cody Kessler into a long term answer at QB or will you be drafting a QB this offseason?

Thanks for signing up!

2-4 is not terrible really. I'm still feeling out sliders right now so I feel like we stole a couple wins due to that.

Kessler plays better than his rating so I'm not sure what we will do as far as QB goes. I think I will play out the rest of the season and see what his stats and ratings dictate.

Thanks for the post, appreciate it!

Re: Bringing Back the Bite - The Cleveland Browns

TEAM NEWS

Browns re-sign Gordon, Taylor

The Browns and wide receiver Josh Gordon have agreed to terms on a three year contract extension that will keep Gordon with the team through the 2019 season. Gordon has seemingly cleaned up his act following a number of suspensions due to violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

There was some speculation that the team would attempt to trade Gordon before the deadline but after a lengthy meeting between Gordon and team management the deal was announced.

The extension is reportedly worth up to $16.5 million if Gordon hits bonuses for receptions, touchdowns and games played.

Gordon currently leads the team with 39 receptions, 540 yards and four touchdowns.

The team also announced a three year, $12.2 million extension for cornerback Jamar Taylor.

Taylor has 30 tackles and an interceptions so far this season.
