LARDARIUS WEBB PICKS OFF CODY KESSLER WITH UNDER A MINUTE LEFT
SEALED WITH A PICK
Late turnover stops driving Browns in close loss
Baltimore, Maryland - Another weak, another close and crushing loss for the Browns.
After spotting the Ravens a 10-0 lead in the first quarter via a Justin Tucker field goal and a Joe Flacco to Crockett Gillmore touchdown pass the Browns got on the board early in the second quarter when Cody Kessler connected with tight end Joseph Fauria for a seven yard score. Tucker added another field goal for the Ravens before halftime, making it 13-7 at the break.
Eash team added a field goal in the third quarter and the game went to the fourth with Baltimore holding a 16-10 lead.
Midway through the quarter Cleveland took their first lead of the game when Kessler hit Terrelle Pryor for a three yard touchdown. Travis Coons made it 17-16 Browns.
Less than a minute later Baltimore regained the lead on another Flacco to Gillmore touchdown pass. The score was set up by a 54 yard catch and run by Steve Smith. Baltimore failed to convert on their two point try and took a 22-17 lead with 5:09 left to play.
Cleveland answered on their first play after the kickoff with Kessler hitting Josh Gordon on a 50/50 ball up the right sideline. Gordon out jumped Eric Weddle to make the catch at the 37 yard line then outran the Baltimore defense to the endzone. An incompletion on the conversion made it 23-22 Browns.
The Ravens weren’t done.
Baltimore put together a long drive and capped it with a one yard Terrance West touchdown run with 1:05 left on the clock. Baltimore once again failed on a two point conversion and led 28-23.
The Browns wouldn’t roll over though. Kessler completed a pair of medium passes and they were helped by a facemask call and a decent run by Isaiah Crowell on a draw. With 16 seconds left and the ball at the Baltimore 30 Kessler was flushed from the pocket and threw off balance for an open Mekale McKay but the pass was four or five yards short and Lardarius Webb turned just in time to pick it off.
"Tough way to end the game obviously." Kessler told the media after the loss. "I think we showed a lot of determination to get into that situation but obviously at the end of the day it's the wins and losses that count the most."
Kessler was 21 of 26 for 243 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He also ran five times for 20 yards.
Crowell ran 23 times for 83 yards.
Josh Gordon led the team with 126 yards and a score on eight receptions while Terrelle Pryor added 53 yards on six receptions.
Ten games in the Browns sit at 3-7.
They will play host to the 8-1 Steelers next Sunday.

DEANGELO WILLIAMS RAN ALL OVER THE BROWNS AFTER REPLACING LE'VEON BELL
TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
Pittsburgh dominates Cleveland in a game that was never close
Cleveland, Ohio - A 30-17 score might not seem like a very lopsided game but when the Steelers came into Cleveland and beat the Browns yesterday it was a very one sided affair.
Cleveland did not get into the endzone until the fourth quarter when they were already down 27-3. A pair of garbage time scores made the game look a lot closer on paper than it ever was at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Cleveland managed just 36 yards rushing in the game compared to 144 for the Steelers.
"We were determined to make them beat us with their passing game." Steelers coach Mike Tomlin explained. "If they were going to get us it was going to have to be Kessler that did it."
Kessler managed a decent game statistically, throwing for 301 yards and a pair of scores. Nearly 200 of those yards came in the fourth quarter with Pittsburgh resting some defensive starters and playing a prevent style defense.
Isaiah Crowell ran 14 times for 28 yards.
Josh Gordon led the way again in receiving for the Browns with 100 yards on seven catches. Gary Barnidge was second with 74 yards on seven catches.
Joe Haden held Antonio Brown to just one reception for seven yards.
Le'Veon Bell left the game in the first quarter with an undisclosed injury, he did not return.
DeAngelo Williams carried 19 times for 108 yards and a score.
Cleveland drops to 3-8 on the season.

"We were very hopeful that we could come to an agreement that was palatable for both sides." Browns GM Sashi Brown explained. "But it appears that the two sides are still quite far apart."
Brown was speaking on the team's attempt to sign runningback Isaiah Crowell to a long term extension.
A source reports that Crowell was looking for a four year deal for just over $20 million with around $7 million in guarantees. Cleveland allegedly was not prepared to go over $18 million.
Crowell has set career highs in carries with 194 and yards with 766 but has only scored twice and is averaging 3.9 yards per carry.
With Duke Johnson Jr. signed through 2018 it is likely the Browns will use the rest of the season to see what they have in him.
Other Notes
The Browns and defensive end Jamie Meder have agreed to terms on a two year deal worth $5.48 million. Meder has recorded 31 tackles and six sacks so far this season.

TERRELLE PRYOR AND DUKE JOHNSON CELEBRATE AFTER A SCORE
HORSESHOES AND HAND GRENADES
Browns hang with Giants, lose late
Cleveland, Ohio - The Browns actually held a lead at two different points in the fourth quarter before falling to the Giants by a score of 30-27.
Cleveland led 20-13 early in the final quarter before a 75 yard Eli Manning to Odell Beckham Jr. touchdown pass tied things up midway through the quarter.
Cleveland answered with a 69 yard touchdown run by Duke Johnson Jr. to go back up by 7.
Manning found rookie Sterling Shepard for a six yard score to tie the game back up at 27-27 with about three minutes to play.
A quick three and out by the Browns gave Manning and the Giants ample time to get into field goal range for Josh Brown, who connected from 38 yards out with less than ten seconds left to seal the game.
Cleveland drops to 3-9 with the loss while the Giants improved their record to 5-6.
Cleveland will have a bye next week before finishing the season with games at home against Cincinnati, at Buffalo, home against San Diego and at Pittsburgh.
