2017 NFL Draft News: Fournette Dazzles, Solidifies Position As Nation's Top College Running Back

LSU running back Leonard Fournette capped off his 175 yard day against Florida with a 40 yard TD scamper to put his team ahead with 2:05 left on the clock. After a run featuring multiple jukes and even hurdles, Fournette scored to give LSU a 20-17 lead. One final stop by the Tiger defense sealed LSU's victory. ESPN's Stephania Bell said runs like Fournette's "are what make watching College Football so much fun". Fournette has been thought of as the nation's top running back all season long, and, after his most recent string of performances, some analysts have him projected as the number one overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Heading into Sunday, there were reasons for optimism regarding the Chargers' chances of a win. They were the beneficiaries of extra rest and preparation time from the bye week, Philip Rivers was returning from injury, and Houston is a struggling team in their own right. Although the game was much closer and more competitive that those in recent memory, San Diego left NRG Stadium with their eighth loss of 2016.

Philip Rivers' return performance was encouraging. He completed 21 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, his lone turnover was costly: a 21 yard pick six return touchdown by Kevin Johnson.

After lying dormant for much of the afternoon, the Charger offense came to life during the 4th quarter, utilizing a mix of passes and runs to mount an effective, but time-consuming, drive deep into Texan territory. On 4th down, Philip Rivers connected with Keenan Allen for a seven yard touchdown. Josh Lambo's extra point cut the deficit to 20-14.

With 4:24 left in the game, the Charger defense had the chance to make one final stop to give the ball back to Philip Rivers and the offense. Unfortunately, a handful of efficient runs and some clever, well-timed play action passes helped Brock Osweiler and the Texans drain most of the clock and kick a field goal with 27 seconds left that put the game out of reach.

News: Addae Extended Through 2018

Prior to their Week 13 matchup against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the San Diego Chargers announced that SS Jahleel Addae has signed a two year, nine million dollar contract extension through the 2018 season. Reports indicate that roughly two million of those dollars are guaranteed. Addae, who will be making the move to Portland with the team in time for the 2017 season, is the first, and so far only, Charger with an expiring contract to re-sign with the team. Through eleven games, Addae has recorded 63 total tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, two sacks, one interception, and one pass deflection.

2017 NFL Draft News: Howard Stands As Undisputed Top TE In Nation After Dominating Auburn

Many things went right for the Alabama Crimson Tide in their 30-12 victory over Auburn last Saturday. The most dazzling performance of the day came from TE O.J. Howard, who racked up 220 receiving yards on 12 catches and scored two touchdowns. This performance gives Howard the status as the consensus top TE prospect in next year's draft. According to ESPN's Todd McShay, Howard's draft value "is approaching an all-time high".
