Re: The Community Dynasty Diary

Total Domination

Eugene, OR: Oregon has slowly started to look good after struggling early. They host #16 Washington in one of the biggest games of the year for the Ducks. A win against the Huskies would throw them back into the discussion for PAC-12 Championship. Oregon needed to continue to grow on both sides of the ball if they wanted to win this game. We caught up with Coach Peters for his pre game speech to his team.

We busted our *** all week for this game boys. We're at home, and we need to play like we're at home. From the opening kick off until the clock shows all zeroes to end the game, we have to dominate. I want you to go out there and put the foot on the gas and don't let up.... DUCKS ON 3!!!

Oregon came out of the gate weak. Their offense was sluggish and couldn't get anything going. However, their defense came out firing on all cylinders. This defense finally looked like the powerhouse Oregon Defense we heard about in the offseason. Both teams would go back and forth the entire first quarter with no scores.

In the second quarter, Oregon's offense was able to get something going but ended up settling for a field goal to take a early 3-0 lead. Oregon's defense was on point the entire game, it would be Washington's downfall. Oregon with the ball back, finally got the offense going and would score a touchdown to take a 10-0 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Washington tried to get something going but Oregon wasn't having it. Oregon would force Browning into throwing his 2nd interception of the game as Oregon would take the ball back and end up scoring a touchdown to increase their shutout lead 17-0. This would take us into the 4th quarter.

Washington would answer Oregon early in the 4th, as Browning would get a quick pass into the endzone to TE Ajamu to cut the lead 17-7.

Oregon would put the nail in the coffin with a field goal late in the game to increase the lead to 20-7, and then would go on to force Browning to throw his 3rd interception of the game. This would end the game and Oregon would take the 20-7 victory and improve to 4-2 on the season. Coach Peters in his post game conference:

We did everything we needed to. This is the team that should of been here since the beginning of the season. We slacked off thinking we was the almighty Oregon Ducks team that wins all the games, but they learned quick that their cockiness is what caused them to lose. They learned to play as a team again, they learned their own weaknesses...we're back on track and it's looking good for us.

Struggling but Winning

Pullman, WA: Oregon had one goal coming into the game tonight, Win. Oregon cannot slip up if they want to play for a Pac-12 Championship in a few weeks. Washington State didn't make it easy as they led Oregon 3-0 until the 4th quarter. Oregon was finally able to get 14 points on the board late in the game and takes the victory 14-3.

Oregon improves to 5-2 (3-1), and they will be taking on a very tough UCLA team who is looking for more than just a Pac-12 Title, but a National Championship as well. Here is Coach Peters post game.

It was a battle, and I guess that is where we are most comfortable. These last two games, tonight and last week, are just testaments to these players. How much they love to play, how much they have grown, and how much fight they have in them. They know next week is going to be a really tough test and that we have to be our very best if we want a post-season championship.
