BROWNS NAME ROBERT GRIFFIN III THE STARTER FOR WEEK ONE

Robert Griffin III will try to be the answer at QB for this season

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- For the second season in a row, Robert Griffin III is the man selected to lead the Browns out of the tunnel for the start of the 2017-18 season. The Browns first game is on the road in Detroit to face off against Matthew Stafford and the Lions.

"We really believe in Robert, he's done this before and we think that Cody [Kessler] needs some time for the game to slow down, he was fantastic but a bit jumpy in the preseason." Coach Jackson said on the subject

According to locker room sources, Jackson has also been clear that this job is not permanent, and that the three QBs should treat this as an audition. Now that RG3's won the job, we shall see if he can latch on as a starter anywhere else if he does well this season.

In an other minor bit of news, the Cleveland Browns chose to solve their secondary issues or at least make an attempt at it, by trading Sean Richardson, who requested a trade after being notified that he would not be starting this season barring injury, and a future 3rd round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for SS Micah Hyde, who was traded to the Vikings by the Packers who were tooling up for their eventual Super Bowl win.

BROWNS LOSE FIRST GAME, DEFENSE TO BLAME?

Kenny Stills (#85) makes an amazing catch over Darius Slay(#23)

Bennett Jackson makes an redzone interception

CLEVELAND, OHIO --Sadly, the first game didn't go as we would hope here in Cleveland, as the Browns traveled to Detroit to face Matthew Stafford's Cardiac Kids aka the Detroit Lions. A big surprise of the game was that Robert Griffin III played very well in this game, only making one mistake in an early first quarter interception to Tahir Whitehead. Griffin had a completion rate of 60% and 2 touch downs with the one turnover. A big question in Cleveland now is that will RGIII return to form and finally be under some success? This would only continue to solidfy Hue Jackson as an offensive guru, also being credited with bringing Andy Dalton to new heights as the Bengals QB. Duke Johnson Jr. also had a decent game, showing that there is something to believe in at the HB position.

Gary Barnidge looks to be in a position to develop into RG3's security blanket as RG3 turned to him when the rest of his options weren't open, Barnidge continues his weird indian summer latter portion of his career after years of being Greg Olson's backup, Barnidge can be a great weapon for the next 2 or 3 years.
