Re: Hail to the Chief | Illinois Fighting Illini Dynasty (NCAA 14)
Good tune up game. Crouch looked to be pretty good behind center with a good completion percentage, but the running game seemed a bit weak. Hopefully that can improve, Brown's 3.3 YPC is not going to cut it, Corbin's 4.0 is decent but could be better.
Re: Hail to the Chief | Illinois Fighting Illini Dynasty (NCAA 14)
Yeah. Our run was weak and like last year our pass defense got obliterated. Idk if i have to change the sliders at all because it doesnt stop us from winning games just looks bad on the team stats lol.
Re: Hail to the Chief | Illinois Fighting Illini Dynasty (NCAA 14)
As SB said, nice to get the year started on the right foot with some momentum headed to the big-time neutral site game vs. OU. Crouch with the four TD's and no picks is a good sign as well.
Mike Dudek.. he's one of those guys who feels like he's been around forever already hahah..

Thats because its his fifth year lol. So he has been lol.
But i agree we have one more blah game against FCS comp and then we get to perhaps our biggest game of the year outside of Ohio St or Northwestern.

UP NEXT: AT SOLDIER FIELD
Note: Due to time constraints with school, work, girlfriend, having a life outside of video games (I know it sucks I hate it too.) I'm only going to be doing write ups for big games and only going to be doing the Top 25/Heisman Watch/Recruiting etc. every few weeks. Other than that, hope you guys are enjoying. You guys are in for a treat for the Oklahoma game
Re: Hail to the Chief | Illinois Fighting Illini Dynasty (NCAA 14)
Illini Strike at the End, Despite Sooners 4th Quarter Comeback
The field at kickoff and the final two scoring plays of the game.
SOLDIER FIELD, CHICAGO, IL – A rainy night in the windy city as the Illinois Fighting Illini got set to take on the #18 ranked Oklahoma Sooners who were coming off of an embarassing loss to the Tennessee Volunteers. This Big Ten-Big 12 matchup was set and the Illini wore the home jerseys even though they're technically listed as the away team.
The Sooners got off to a hot start, stopping the Illini shy of field goal territory on their first drive then throwing a screen pass on their first play from scrimmage that would go 64 yards all the way to the house. Putting them up 7-0 early. The Illini would respond with a field goal and then just 30 seconds later a Crouch touchdown pass to Griffin Palmer. However the Sooners would finish the first quarter with the 14-10 lead after a long drive leading to an Adams two yard touchdown run. Absolutely no defense in the first quarter for either team, but that would soon chage...for one of the teams.
The Illini defense would let up only three points the next two quarters. And the offense would respond as well. Crouch would start the second with a sneak into the endzone at the goal line and also throw a seven yard pass to Mike Dudek late in the second. Making it 24-14 before half. In the third, it was all defense for the Illini, and the Sooners as well. The Sooners would give up a pick six to Chris James Jr. who read a screen play perfectly and jumped and ran it 39 yards to the house. And the three points from the Sooners would come halfway through the third.
This is where things got interesting. The Illini would strike early in the fourth quarter making it an almost insurmountable 38-17 lead. Coach Lovie could be heard on the sidelines saying, “Don't get comfortable. Crazier things have happened. Stay tough and don't let your guard down.” Coach Lovie's former Chicago Bears are of course known for one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history. The “They are who we thought they were” speech by the late Dennis Green was sparked by a 26 point second half comeback almost entirely orchestrated by the Chicago Bears defense and special teams against then-Green's Cardinals. Unfortunately, it seemed as if things might bite Lovie. The defense didn't want to play anymore and the offense spent most of the time just running into three and outs. Oklahoma had a nice drive to make it 38-24. Quickly get the ball back and Rambo would beat a blown coverage for a long 41 yard touchdown bomb to put them within seven. After the Sooners got the ball back with a little less than three minutes left they were more methodical and then would finish the drive with a fourth down and goal fade route to Basquine for the touchdown that went right through the defender Cameron Watkins' hands. The game was tied 38-38 with 59 seconds left to play. Unfortunately for the Sooners, the Illini offense knew it was do or die and quickly drove down the field, centered the ball for kicker Chase McLaughlin to hit an easy 27 yarder as time expired. Giving the Illini the win 41-38. No doubt the Sooners put in a great effort at the end but it was too little, too late.
