Re: Roar on the Shore - The Chicago Bears (M18) -
Golladay soars over Cardinals in Bears debut (Phoenix, AZ) - The Chicago Bears picked up a victory in their second matchup of the preseason. This time the Bears traveled out to Phoenix to face against the team that they had one of their most miraculous comebacks in franchise history. That game had a lot of implications regarding the NFL climate at the time while this is just a preseason matchup, but energy was electric as two new Bears suited up and another Bear solidified his role as the top starter on this defense, as they hoped to show improvement over last weeks beating. The improvements were right down the line, only one sack allowed this game after allowing seven against the Denver furious pass rush. They also got three sacks in this one, along with an interception. The Bears defense looked opportunistic and the starters held onto the lead at 10-6 heading into the half, though when the second stringers came in, the game truly got electric. Kenny Golladay tore apart the second string secondary on his way to a huge performance in his first start for the Chicago Bears. Just a weak after many saw the Bears as losers in that swap, Golladay had a performance for the ages, admittedly in the preseason. What it does do however, gives him an opportunity to break into the starting line up for the Chicago Bears this season, and that could be huge, if he ends up being as good as Ryan Pace seemed to believe he was. Though Golladay wasn't the only player to go on a tear in this one. Chris Johnson flashed talent that hadn't been seen in years as he flashed the talent that earned the moniker "CJ2K" when he took the league by storm early in his career. Johnson made the Bears defense look foolish on a routine basis. Including a huge touchdown run of 54 yards where he made six Chicago Bears miss tackles (admittedly three essentially fell into eachother as Johnson juked past them). It was an awe inspiring run and all around performance for Johnson whom is trying to show there is still some fire in the tank. David Johnson was no slouch either however piling up 53 rushing yards as the Cardinals went for over 200 rushing yards in their match up. Mitchell Trubisky looked good again for Chicago as he tossed a 126.2 QBR with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He was also the lone sack in this one, in a situation of poor situational awareness where he held the ball too ling. Mike Glennon however tossed an impressive game, going for 222 yards though with no touchdowns in leading the Bears to two scoring drives in the first half and a lead. The Bears top two duo Jordan Howard (29 RuYds) and Tarik Cohen (57 RuYds) nearly combined to reach the century mark, a week after their ground game was stifled by the Denver Broncos smothering defense. The Cardinals looked good at times but their defense just struggled in this one. Jeremy Langford is likely falling further down the depth chart after his performance just 3 rushing yards on as many carries and not looking very good in the backfield. Ka'Deem Carey didn't play, suggesting that his career in Chicago could very well be over. Re: Roar on the Shore - The Chicago Bears (M18) -
Bears slip past Titans after Connor Barth knocks through last second field goal (Nashville, TN) - The Chicago Bears third preseason game was an exciting affair featuring the Chicago Bears traveling down south to Tennessee to take on Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans, the Titans entered this game 0-2, while the Bears fresh off their win against Arizona entered at 1-1. This was the final major test for both teams as both sides starters would see three quarters of action before Week 4 where many starters will rest or only play for fifteen minutes. Mike Glennon was going to get his first long start as a Chicago Bear, to give fans some glimpses at what the team will look like come Week 1 when they take on the reigning NFC Champions, the Atlanta Falcons. Glennon was simply, alright. This was about what was expected of him when signed, he passed for a 50% completion rate, no turnovers, a 80 QBR and had a touchdown sling in there. It wasn't anything overly impressive, but he didn't turn the ball over and facilitated the offense which is exactly what this team needs to layover for Mitchell Trubisky to ascend to the starting slot. Trubisky looked like a rookie in this one, throwing 1 interception albeit completing 4 of 6 attempts for 71 yards including leading the Bears on their game winning drive. He has shown glimpses of what could be through the preseason, but this club belongs to Glennon right now. For the Bears, it was great to see Jordan Howard break back into form in this one. Through two games, Jordan Howard wasn't used very much, or at least wasn't very effective, but in this one the Bears pounded early and often, getting the rock to Howard 22 times in three quarters, more typical to what his regular season workload would be, and while he didn't break the century mark or the endzone, he did total 92 yards for 4.2 yards per carry. Last year he was second in the NFL for rushing yards behind Ezekiel Elliot, the hope is the production remains or improves as the Bears will be running the ball even more with Glennon under the helm, Tarik Cohen wasn't nearly as effective in this one as he has been, only getting 34 yards for a 2.8 yards per carry average. Jeremy Langford proved his worth today piling up 24 yards on just 6 carries, making a strong case for the number two slot this season. Zach Miller showed glimpses of his skills that had elevated him since he had come to the Bears with a game high five receptions, 63 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown, while Kenny Golladay settled down after a huge performance last week, catching the ball four times for 36 yards. Though his radar is angling up as the Bears look to finalize their depth chart for the regular season. Flipping to the defensive end Jerrell Freeman had 7 tackles, two for a loss, a sack and an interception while Adrian Amos adding 6 tackles and two sacks coming from the safety slot. The Bears defense wanted to improve on their opportunities and in this one they looked flat out opportunisitic in taking every opportunity to scoop up the ball. Routinely getting after Mariota and the Titans. In fact the Bears defense truly step up in this one, while the score was close, the Titans offense only gained 208 offensive yards in a near balance of 89 rushing yards and 119 passing yards, with only 7 first downs. Outside of a few drives, the Bears defense put the clamps on this one, leading 17-3 heading into the half after Jerrell Freeman intercepted Marcus Mariota and brought it back for a touchdown. This was a good win for the Bears and as they look to the regular season, this is one to grow upon. Scenes from the Game Jerrell Freeman celebrates after returning an interception for a touchdown The Rookie Showcase Chicago Bears Mitchell Trubisky (QB) 4-6 71 Passing Yards 1 INT Tarik Cohen (HB) 12 ATT 34 Rushing Yards Freddie Stevenson (FB) 1 Reception 12 Receiving Yards Kenny Golladay (WR) 4 Receptions 36 Receiving Yards Tennessee Titans Corey Davis (WR) 2 Receptions 23 Receiving Yards Adoree' Jackson (CB) 7 Tackles 1 For Loss

Re: Roar on the Shore - The Chicago Bears (M18) -
Bears ink several young players in preparation for final week of preseason (Chicago, IL) - Leading up to the Preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns, the Chicago Bears have made a series of moves designed to help flesh out their practice squad and roster. They've signed several young players whom expect to make major contributions in the final preseason game against Cleveland, while the starters and key reserves rest to avoid any further injuries in the preseason. The first of which comes from up north, where the Bears snagged Taysom Hill from the Green Bay Packers. Hill was sent down to their practice squad and the Bears leapt at the opportunity. Hill has tremendous athletic ability but his pocket passing is extremely raw making him a major developmental project. While the Bears have Trubisky as their quarterback of the future, unless Glennon takes a pay cut they will need a back up, and stealing a potential back up from their division rivals makes the move quite solid. The Bears would also add free agents, Kolby Listenbee (WR), Keivarae Russell (CB), and Howard Wilson (CB) to one year deals with the expectation that they are going down to the practice squad. Further bolstering their youth in the secondary, it gives the Bears extra players to fill in should an injury pop up but also developmental prospects. Kolby Listenbee could be called up to be a return specialist as he fleshes out his receiving talents, he is electric in the return game, but his skills as a receiver leave a lot to be desired. Chicago will finalize their schedule by Saturday following their Thursday matchup against the Cleveland Browns in their preseason finale.

Re: Roar on the Shore - The Chicago Bears (M18) -
Last second safety sends Browns past Bears in the finale (Chicago, IL) - The Bears first team offense was helmed by Mitchell Trubisky in this one, as the team wanted to get a brief look of him with the first team offense. The results were actually pretty good as Trubisky led the entire game with 75 passing yards in a single quarter of action. He wouldn't get to the endzone as the Bears ground game looked helpless against the Browns. The Browns ground game on the other hand looked untouchable. Isaiah Crowell ran the ball for a 70 yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage and never looked back, piling up 104 rushing yards in a single quarter of action. Though if it weren't enough, Duke Johnson Jr, rushed for 185 yards in an incredible display for the young halfback who looked tremendously good against the Bears back ups, the ground game was the entire focus of the Browns offense, and given they jumped out a 21-0 lead in the first half, they only had to keep running. Rookie Deshone Kizer looked uncomfortable in the pocket, throwing 5-11 for 60 yards and an interception. He'd be sacked five times in this one, two due to him trying to scramble and running right into a defender, Taysom Hill would also be sacked five times as both team's back up offensive lines looked to struggle mightily against the pass rush, likely a good thing that both squads held out the players whom were considered to be their week 1 starters, Mike Glennon and Brock Osweiler. For the Bears Kenny Golladay made another big appearance, going for 98 receiving yards and the game tying touchdown just outside of two minutes. He looked strong and likely played himself up the depth chart to be the fourth wide receiver ahead of Ruben Randle whom has been silentt his preseason. Adam Shaheen looked really good too, including pulling in a long 32 yard reception that opened up the field for the Bears second touchdown as they began to work downfield. Tarik Cohen added the first touchdown when the offensive line got off their blocks and made a great display of blocking downfield to open the entire field to the speedy Cohen whom scored easily. This game truly ended up being exciting albeit mostly played by guys whom won't be on a roster tomorrow, or on the practice squad, but the Bears did rally around Taysom Hill to knot the game up with only two and a half in the game, afer forcing a punt, they had one shot to get downfield, except the punt pinned them at their five, a pair of quick runs to try and move the ball failed and the Bears decided to try for a rollout pass and hope for some yards. They couldn't get anything, in fact Nate Orchard broke his block and crashed into Taysom Hill for the safety, the Browns would win on this play, breaking a deadlock and getting the ball right back. The Bears preseason ends at 2-2, and for Ryan Pace, the time comes now to finalize their roster for the upcoming season, there are some sure cuts, and some tough choices to be made, but one thing is for certain, the football season is upon us at last. Scenes from the Game (1)Kyle Fuller intercepts a pass in the Bears Preseason Matchup (2) Isiah Crowell leaves the game following this hit for two series, Browns fans went silent. There was a roar when he returned Adam Shaheen pummels Boddy-Calhoun on his way to a big gain against the Browns The Rookie Showcase Chicago Bears Mitchell Trubisky (QB) 3-5 75 Passing Yards Tarik Cohen (HB) 11 Carries 100 Rushing Yards 2 TD Kenny Golladay (WR) 6 Receptions 98 Receiving Yards 1 TD Cleveland Browns Deshone Kizer (QB) 5-11 60 Passing Yards 1 INT

Re: Roar on the Shore - The Chicago Bears (M18) -
Chicago Bears 2017 NFL Schedule W1: vs Atlanta Falcons W2: @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers W3: vs Pittsburgh Steelers W4: @ Green Bay Packers W5: vs Minnesota Vikings W6: @ Baltimore Ravens W7: vs Carolina Panthers W8: @ New Orleans Saints W9: BYE W10: vs Green Bay Packers W11: vs Detroit Lions W12: @ Philadelphia Eagles W13: vs San Fransisco 49ers W14: @ Cincinnati Bengals W15: @ Detroit Lions W16: vs Cleveland Browns W17: @ Minnesota Vikings Prediction: 6-10 "The Chicago Bears will start their 2017 season off with the gauntlet of top contenders, all four teams are going for playoff spots with three of the four having reasonable expectations to reach the super bowl. If the Bears even win one game in their first four it'd be an upset. Expectations are at a low for this team, with a lot of young pieces many expect them to be a few years before they reasonably compete for the playoffs, though drawing two of the weakest NFL squads will help boost their record by the end of the season. The Bears usually do a decent job of playing up to Green Bay for the one week, with the projection expecting them to take a slim victory at Soldier Field but to be defeated handedly in Lambeau. The simulation has the Bears going into their bye week 2-6 and towards the bottom of the NFL, with their wins coming in back toback weeks against Minnesota and Baltimore with one caveat, which Minnesota squad will show up, the Vikings were world beaters early last season before their collapse, if they continue such a trajectory the Bears should eke one out at Soldier field before besting the Ravens in another close contest. The Bears secondary isn't very strong leading them to two consecutive losses going into their bye week coming from the arms of Cam Newton and Drew Brees in back to back weeks. The NFC South has above replacement level quarterbacks across all four squads, and that happens to be the Bears biggest defensive weakness suggesting an 0-4 tilt against the division this year. Coming out of the break, the Bears are expected to go on another win streak, beating the Packers by one (28-27) at Soldier Field before knocking off the Lions the following weekend. At 4-6 the Bears travel out East to take on the Eagles and Alshon Jeffery will look to beat his former team and should expect to do so, dropping the Bears to 4-7 and needing to win out to even consider the playoffs as a wild card. Their final four games are a mixed bag, drawing the Browns should help get one of those wins, but traveling to Cincinnati, Detroit and Minnesota should prove to be too difficult to overcome to win every game. The highest record the Bears had was 9-7 with them claiming a 5 game winning streak to close out their season at 9-7 and miss the playoffs due to losing their tie breaker with Tampa Bay. NFC North Predictions: Green Bay Packers (11-5) Minnesota Vikings (9-7) Detroit Lions (8-8) Chicago Bears (6-10)
