A World Without Patriots - A Relocation/Expansion Franchise [Madden 18]

Intro

The New England Patriots have been one of the most dominant franchises in sports history, certainly in NFL history. Lead by Tom Brady and Bill Belicheck for much of this decade and last, in many people's eyes, they are the epitome of dominance in the sport of football, making the playoffs all but twice since the 2000-01 season. In that time, they have won five Super Bowls, including two of the last three. They are loved by some, hated by most, and acknowledged if not respected by all who watch the NFL.

Now, picture a World where the Patriots no longer exist.

Their Super Bowl victories nullified and voided.

The legacies of their star quarterback, their genius head coach, and team owner all permanently tarnished beyond repair.

The rest of the star players thrown into a situation in which they must all separate.

I would like to welcome you all to my newest franchise concept, "A World Without Patriots".

Here's the story behind the franchise:

Robert Kraft, Bill Belicheck, and Tom Brady were all found to be involved in an illegal gambling ring, and later have been found to be paying off NFL officials and referees in order for their games to be rigged.

Because of this latest development, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, already frustrated by the previous transgressions by the New England Patriots organization, has decided that this latest act of dishonesty and fraud is the final straw. Goodell comes up with a punishment to supersede all punishments that he has handed out to teams, as well as players, over the course of his tenure as the commissioner; a punishment he refers to as the NFL death penalty.

Effective immediately, the Patriots will cease operations.

Goodell announces that they will be replaced by an expansion team starting in the 2018 season. As for the 2017-18 season, the Patriots will forfeit all of their games, giving every team they are scheduled to play a free victory. Brady, Belicheck, and Kraft will all be permanently banned from the NFL, and all of the other players on the team, including the likes of Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Donta Hightower, etc, will be placed in a dispersal draft, with the draft order being the same original draft order as the 2017 NFL Draft.

After the conclusion of the 2017-18 season, the expansion team that will be replacing the Patriots will have an expansion draft, which will take place after the final re-signing period, and just before free agency.

Rules of the Expansion Draft

The rules for the 2018 NFL Expansion Draft will be very much the same as the rules for the 2002 Expansion Draft for the Houston Texans.

-Each NFL team must list five players for the expansion team to select.
-The expansion team must select either 30 players or up to $64.9 million in contracts, 38% of the 2018 salary cap.
-After a player is selected from a currently existing team, that team may remove a player from their list of eligibility.
-If a second player is selected from that same team, that team may then remove all remaining players from their list of eligibility, although they are not at all required to remove any players from their list of eligibility.
-Existing teams cannot list any players who were placed on IR during the 2017 season, any players with expiring contracts, and may only include one player with more than ten years of experience.
-The expansion team assumes the contact of the player they draft.
-The expansion team may not draft a player and then trade that same player back to their original team.

I am very excited to get this franchise started. I will be posting videos of this franchise on my YouTube page. Those videos will be posted in this thread as well. If you would like to follow along on YouTube, subscribe to my page below.

The first video should be up Monday or Tuesday of this upcoming week.
