END OF SEASON RECAP

UMass capped off a successful season at 7-6 with a win over New Mexico in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. They scored a season high 42 points and seem to be trending in the right direction, riding a 4-game winning streak. During that streak they averaged 32.5 points and only gave up 21 points a game. The future looks bright offensively at UMass!

The Top 25 was recently released and it finds defending National Champs Washington sitting at #4 looking up at fellow PAC 12 teams #1 Oregon and #2 Stanford. The PAC 12 race looks to just as exciting as last year when Stanford won the conference but Washington won the National Title even though their lone loss came to Stanford.

UMass has relesaed their finalized 2014-2015 Schedule. They have a very good non-conference schedule that with some wins should move them up in the minds of the poll voters fairly quickly. UMass comes into the Preseason ranked #83.

The Minutemen Depth Chart is missing a key player from last year. MLB Stanley Andre was arrested over the summer for drug paraphernalia and while on probation was arrested for another drug charge and given jail time. Upon his release he was quickly found with more drugs while meeting with his parole officer. A promising career was unfortunately cut short as UMass administration was forced to remove him both from the team and from the school. We hope Stanley nothing but the best and hope he finds his way back on the right path.

Season Outlook
The UMass Minutemen look to continue to improve this year after a surprising 7-6 finish last year that saw them both make and win their first ever Bowl game. Their offense seemed to hit their stride during the final stretch of games and after a full off season of training under OC Derick Sunderland they should come out all cylinders firing.

They look to have a nice mix of fresh faces and veteran leadership this year. The offense looks to be lead by QB A.J. Doyle, who will be throwing to all the same WRs. His go to last year was the TE position manned by Rob Blanchflower but he's gone now replaced by FR Wayne Thornton who looks to be a future star. Doyle will be joined in the backfield by the same committee of RB as last year, including Jordan Broadnax who paced the team with 630 yards last season and Stacey Bedell who had a monstrous Bowl game with 137 yards on only 4 carries, two of which were TDs.

The defense has much more turnover than the offense did. The whole defensive line is manned by freshmen, Ends Jermaine Diggs Jr. and Tommy Fellows, and Defensive Tackles Joe Williams and Reggie McBride. The Linebacking corp took a hit with the loss of Stanley Andre but Jovan Santos-Knox and Kassan Messiah will be looking to make new MLB Shane Huber's life easier with their experience. Stud Corner Cole Alexander finds himself starting opposite returnee Randall Jette and Nickelback Trey Dudley-Giles. Both Safeties return in Khary Bailey-Smith and Ed Saint-Vil. Blake Lucas returns for his duties of FGs and Kickoffs and newcomer Kenneth Hunter walked on to the team as a Punter after UMass failed to find one during recruiting.

The team is predicted to finish 3rd in the MAC East and 6th overall with Northern Illinois picked to repeat as Champs. We predict another 6-6 season for the Minutemen. We see them beating Colorado and Vanderbilt while losing to Boston College and Penn State out of conference. During conference play we see wins against Buffalo, Miami University, Eastern Michigan, and Western Michigan. Their conference losses will be Bowling Green, Kent State, Ball State, and Toledo.

Re: Coaching Legacy of Derick Sunderland (NCAA Football 14)

WEEK 1

Top 5 Games
1. #6 Clemson vs #8 Georgia
A clash between top 10 ranked rivals to open their seasons. Both teams are looking to make a statement to the committee and prove they are playoff worthy.

2. #4 Washington vs Hawai'i
The defending champs take on Hawai'i to open their season. Can the Huskies pick up where they left off last season?

3. Utah vs #20 Utah State
Rivalry game + new coach= upset potential? Will Utah State's Bob Cole start this rivalry with a win or is he in for a rude awakening?

4. #13 Oklahoma State vs Florida State
Florida State is on the outside of the Top 25 (#27). They look to use Oklahoma State to propel themselves into the Top 25. Oklahoma State looks to use FSU to possibly push themselves farther up the rankings.

5. #23 Boise State vs Ole Miss
These two teams lock horns as the Kickoff Game for the Year. Will Boise State hang with the big boys or will Ole Miss show Boise State that they're not ready for the big stage?

#19 Boston College @ UMass

UMass wins Rivalry game!
UMass takes the win over the Eagles 42-38. QB A.J. Doyle set a School record for Passing Yards with 492. The Minutemen relied on his arm to bring them back for the W. Freshman TE Wayne Thornton had quite the debut with 10 catches for 172 Yards and a TD. UMass couldn't seem to find much consistincy running the ball though. The defense stepped up big with a safety in the 3rd quarter after the offense failed to punch it in from the two yard line. It was an impressive win for UMass and they look to keep it going against Colorado next week.
