The Life of Tyreke Banks | NCAA Football 14

Introduction
Tyreke Banks grew up in the "hood" of Chicago. His mother had him at the age of 17, his father, nowhere to be seen. Drugs, guns, and more drugs were things Tyreke saw each and every day of his life. His best friend, Darren, was shot and killed at the young age of 13. Darren and Tyreke had one goal, get out of the south side and make it to the league one day.

Darren never got the chance to live long enough to have the opportunity, but Reke got the chance he needed, but failed. That is what drives him every single day. He led all of division II football in receiving yards in the 3 years he played, but never received an invite, or even a text message, from a NFL scout or coach. He failed. But now Banks is breaking back onto the scene of football, this time at the division one level.

Tyreke has the chance to help others make their dream come true and help them succeed at the college level, and hopefully get them out of whatever situation they may be in, and get them to the league.

Tyreke has accepted an offensive coordinator position at the young age of 27 at the University of North Texas. Tyreke now has the chance to succeed.

Mean Green Start 1-2, Improving

College football is back, baby! The 2013 season is now 3 games in, and teams are starting to separate themselves, good or bad.

(Rainbow Warriors fired up before the game)

Game One - 48-14 Loss vs Hawai'i

The start of coach Banks career definently could have gotten off on a better foot as the Mean Green were set to square off with the Rainbow Warriors of Hawai'i. Many penciled this game in as a North Texas victory due to the fact would be played at home, however, that was not the result. The Mean Green were outplayed in every aspect of the game, including offense.

The North Texas offense struggled for a majority of the game, only scoring two offensive touchdowns against a very poor defense in Hawai'i.

Hawai'i was led trough the air by Junior QB Jermey Higgins, who threw for 357 yards and two touchdowns. 4 different players scored on the ground as well, however they didn't rack up many yards via the ground game.

Sophomore QB Brock Berglund struggled for North Texas, only completing 15 out of his 40 pass attempts. He did throw one touchdown late in the game, but also threw a costly INT early. The run game was not their for the Mean Green either, with starting running back Antoinne Jimmerson average 2.3 yards per pop.

One of the lone bright spots for the Mean Green was Senior Right End Brandon McCoy, who recorded 17 solo tackles, 7 of which were for a loss, including 2 sacks.

(Gardner drops back to pass)

Game two - Loss 38-20 @ #18 Michigan

Week two did not pose any easier for the Mean Green of North Texas as they found themselves traveling into the "Big House" for your typical "Pay-for-a-win" type of games, and that is how things ended up playing out.

North Texas kept the game respectable for most of the game, but things got a little out of hand towards the end, before adding a late score to make things appear closer than it really was.

North Texas drew first blood after a very sound drive, but this was the only time that North Texas had the lead. Michigan exploded with a big 17 point second quarter, and that is all that needed to be done. Neither team scored in the 3rd, and in the 4th quarter each team scored 2 touchdowns.

The North Texas coaching staff should be extremely happy with the way they battled and fought the Wolverines.

QB Brock Berglund was better today against a much more experienced and athletic defense, connecting on 21 of his 39 throws, also throwing for 2 touchdowns. However, he did add 2 interceptions on the day. The running game was not much better, as RB Antoninne Jimmerson only averaged 3 yards a pop, but he did add a touchdown.

This time the defense was led by Senior MLB Zachary Orr, who had 15 solo tackles, 2 of which were for a loss.

Michigan was led by dual threat Quarterback Devin Gardner, who had himself a hayday against a weak North Texas defense. Devin threw for 342 yards and 4 touchdowns, and kept the ball out of the opponents possession. Thomas Rawls also added 102 yards on the ground, also punching the ball in for a touchdown.

(Berglund drops back to pass)

Game three - Win 38-28 @ Syracuse

Offensive Coordinator Tyreke Banks finally got to unleash his full playbook in week 3 after all of the formation and plays were installed and he did not disappoint. The offense played with energy and heart, and put up 38 on an ACC team, albeit a bad one.

The Mean Green were led on the offensive side of the ball by Quarterback Brock Berglund, who had his best game of his career. Berglund was 25-36, with 2 touchdowns, and even more importantly no interceptions. He had an impressive connection with Junior wideout Darius Terrell, throwing 9 completions his way for 111 yards, however no touchdowns.

The ground game was almost must more impressive with Jimmerson averaging 8 yards a carry, and punching the ball into the end zone. Berglund also added 76 yards on the ground.

The defensive unit was led by Left End Aaron Bellazin, who had 9 tackles, 2 of which were sacks.

The Mean Green now sit at 1 and 2, with their win over an ACC team, and a loss against Hawai'i
