Re: Can Seattle still be Super?

WEEK 5 POWER RANKINGS

Patriots back at #1 as top teams struggle

The New England Patriots slide back to where they were to begin the season in the number one spot as some of the teams at the top took losses this week shuffling the power rankings. A quarter of the way through the rankings have become very NFC heavy as 7 of the top 10 spots are occupied by NFC teams. That has much to do with the fact that there are still five undefeated teams in the conference, but two of those teams will have very tough tests this weekend with the Rams facing Seattle, and Tampa Bay facing off against the aforementioned Patriots.

Rising:

Los Angeles Rams (+10): The Rams stayed undefeated by taking down the top team in the rankings and made a huge climb as a result. We were waiting for the Rams to play a top team to prove they were worthy of moving on up, and they delivered the goods on the road in Dallas. They will have a chance to shoot up even more if they can beat their division rivals the Seattle Seahawks this weekend.

Denver Bronocs (+6): One of the teams that had been plummeting the Broncos finally got a win, and did so by wiping the floor with a previously undefeated Oakland Raiders team, flashing the potential that had them higher up in our rankings to begin the year.

Philadelphia Eagles (+5): The Eagles are still undefeated, and as long as they keep winning, they will keep moving up these rankings. This time coming off an impressive road win over the Chargers in LA.

Falling:

Green Bay Packers (-9): The Packers are an extremely disappointing 1-3, and are now coming off getting blown out by a winless Bears team at home. That has sent them plummeting down these rankings, as you do not expect a team with Aaron Rodgers to be performing this badly, but perhaps even he can't overcome a defense this bad, ranked 31st in the league, and made Mitchell Trubisky look like a poised veteran last Thursday night.

Dallas Cowboys (-6): It's a bit unfair to categorize the Cowboys as "falling", but when you're at the top you have further to fall when you get knocked off. Dropping from 1 to 7 is no reason to panic, the Cowboys are still a very good football team that ran into a buzzsaw last weekend.

Oakland Raiders (-5): Oakland turned in the dud of the week last Sunday as the 3-0 Raiders got blown out by their 0-3 divisional rivals the Denver Broncos. a 3-1 record is the only thing keeping the Raiders from dropping further after such a horrific performance.

Re: Can Seattle still be Super?

WEEK 5

Seattle heads to Hollywood to face off with the first place Rams

Los Angeles - The Seahawks travel to Los Angeles this weekend for a game against their NFC West Rivals, the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams are making an early bid to challenge Seattle's stranglehold on the division as they are off to a 4-0 start, with a stout defense, and a quarterback in Jared Goff who is starting to get the hang of things in his second season. Also the Rams boast running back Todd Gurley who is having a bounce back season powering the Rams running game into a top 5 unit in the league. This will be a big test for the banged up Seahawks who are coming into the game missing at least 4 or 5 of their key contributors. The game kicks off at 1:05 pm this Sunday from the L.A. Coliseum in Los Angeles.

Re: Can Seattle still be Super?

RAMS OUTSHINE HAWKS IN TINSEL TOWN

Seahawks mistakes in second half lead to Rams dominating for win

Todd Gurley ran all over the Hawks in the win

Los Angeles - Make no mistake about it, the Seahawks have company in the NFC West race. After a solid first half, and a 17-10 lead going into the locker room, the Seahawks got out gunned 31-7 in the second half, behind defensive, and special teams scores by the Rams, as they were able to pull away for a 41-24 win. After a masterful two minute drive to close out the half, Seattle forced a punt on the Rams opening possession of the second half, and looked to have all of the momentum, but Doug Baldwin got hit hard after catching a pass over the middle, and the Rams picked it up and took it all the way to the house for a score that tied the game up, and swung momentum back to the home team. After a Seattle three and out, Los Angeles brought pressure and blocked Jon Ryan's punt, returning that for a score as well, and opening the flood gates for the Rams, who never looked back. Todd Gurley was able to run rough shod over the Hawks once the Rams seized control and finished with three touchdowns on the day. The Rams now take an early stranglehold on the division with a two game lead, plus the tie breaker over the Hawks who now head into the bye week to re-group, and try to fix some of their early season flaws.

Re: Can Seattle still be Super?

WEEK 6 POWER RANKINGS

Superbowl Participants keep top two spots

If our power rankings are to be believed then there is a very strong possibility of a superbowl rematch on the horizon come the end of the season as once again the Patriots and Falcons claim the top two spots. The Steelers and Rams both moved up the rankings after the Rams big win over Seattle moving them to 5-0 and making them officially a top 5 team in the league right now.

Rising:

Baltimore Ravens (+7): It is impossible for us to ignore the Ravens for any longer, as another win has them at 4-1 and on top of the NFC North through five weeks. The defense has been great, and with some more games against Cleveland and Cincinnati on the horizon the Ravens should be able to pad their record for the playoff push.

Miami Dolphins (+6): Where did that come from? With three quarterbacks on the injured list Cody Kessler comes in off the street and drops 52 on the Titans? Going to have to think he will get some more run in that starting role for Miami moving forward.

Houston Texans (+5): Another steady performer that we can no longer ignore, the Texans are getting a great boost from rookie DeShaun Watson, who had three touchdown passes on Sunday, as they absolutely routed the Chiefs. Houston is in prime position for a playoff push with a two game lead over the Titans in the AFC South.

Falling:

Washington Redskins (-8): That's a tough fall for a team that was on a bye, but when you're the only team left without a win you have to take a tumble. Washington is probably better than some of the teams ranked ahead of them, and they should probably get their first win this weekend in Santa Clara.

Oakland Raiders (-6): Another loss for the Raiders is starting to leave us with some questions about this team. The defense is not good, and the offense has been under performing the last couple of games. This does not look like the contender from last season.

Indianapolis Colts (-5): You lose at home to the bottom team in the rankings, and down the ladder you will go. Indianapolis is now bringing up the rear in our rankings. It's a shame to see a team with a talent like Andrew Luck put such a train wreck of a roster around him.

Re: Can Seattle still be Super?

WEEK 7 POWER RANKINGS

Not much movement in rankings as most teams hold serve

It was a slow week for action in the rankings as most of the higher ranked teams all held serve in their match ups. The few movers we will recap below.

Rising:

Detroit Lions (+7): The one real upset of the week, the Lions get to shoot up the rankings after beating the previously undefeated New Orleans Saints on the road.

Carolina Panthers (+2): The Panthers sent the Eagles to their second straight loss, and sent themselves up the rankings this week.

Buffalo Bills (+2): The Bills were off this week, but we moved them up a couple spots ahead of some of the teams with bad records around them.

Falling:

New Orleans Saints: (-7): The team on the losing end of this weeks upset, the Saints tumble down for losing to a hapless Lions team at home.

New York Giants (-5): It just gets worse for the G Men, who after falling to 1-5 get an angry Seattle team fresh off a bye in a must win game. Good luck.

Minnesota Vikings (-2): Another disappointing 1-5 team, the Vikings have been just plain awful this year. Their ranking as it stands now may be generous.
