Re: Building a Dynasty: The Alaska Warriors
Offseason Team News: Alaska freshman Lamar Douglas had thoughts of transferring but decided against it. Vincent Keyes was cut and remade as a JUCO. Offensive coordinator Jared Heffner left to take the head coaching vacancy at Ball State. He was replaced by level 22 Skip Holtz.
Patrick Cole's brother is currently a 5 star QB recruit.
My dumb self only scheduled 11 games. Oops.

Re: Building a Dynasty: The Alaska Warriors
Weeks 1-4 Hawaii Alaska had a pretty dominant performance to open the season against Hawaii. Van Ward ended the first drive with a touchdown, and George Thomas set up a 1-yard touchdown after a 60 yard catch to take a 14 point lead. Hawaii would hit a field goal early in the second, and would add 7 on a 29 yard Gabe Morales reception to get within 4. Then fireworks would ensue. Van Ward would score again with 2 minutes left. Twenty seconds later Jason Flanagan caught a 65 yard touchdown. Then Marcus Glover would extend the Alaska lead with a td catch with 15 seconds remaining. 21 points within 2 minutes. Van Ward had 100 yards at half time. Alaska would take a 28-17 lead in to halftime. Hawaii began the second half with a 63-yard return, but freshman Ray Johnson Jr. would take a fumble to the house. Hawaii would add a field goal before Van Ward added another touchdown. Alaska would add 2 more fourth quarter touchdowns and win 56-27.
Memphis Memphis put up a good fight in this one. Their quarterback was on fire and the passing game was great for most of the game. They opened with a field goal. Marcus Glover had a 52 yard reception to start the game but wind pushed Alaska's field goal attempt right. Zach Bridges then scored on a 25-yard catch. At that point Memphis had passed 15 times and rushed once. Alaska missed a 51 yard field goal and it looked like a rout was on. Finally Alaska got on the board in the second with a 42 yard field goal. Pete McCoy then picked the ball off but the drive stalled. With 17 seconds left in the half, Paul Powers caught a 66 yard touchdown. Memphis receiver Sean Jones had 8 catches in the first half alone. Then Alaska pulled a bold strategy. Down 17-3, Alaska held the ball for the first 7 minutes of the second half. "Our defense needed a break. We couldn't keep going three and out so we took our time and controlled the clock." It ended with a Jonathan Williams TD. Memphis was forced to punt, and Alaska scored again at the start of the fourth. Memphis again was forced to punt, but Patrick Cole threw an errant pass deep in the red zone to end the ensuing drive. Freshman Ray Johnson Jr. then took the game in his own hands with a pick 6. Memphis would answer quickly with an Anthony Newberry 53 yard touchdown where he outjumped the safety and took it to the house. Really cool play. But Alaska would have the final laugh as Cronin connected on a 39 yard field goal as time expired to win 27-24. Derrick Grant, a safety and I think a backup lol, had 3 sacks.
#23 Alaska at #17 Auburn Okay, Auburn's ranking was honestly arbitrary. They started off top 5 but lost their first two games. But they were immensely talented and had a Heisman candidate at runningback. The game opened up with punts before Auburn scored on third and ten. Alaska would answer with a Chad Smith touchdown. Auburn would punt down to the 1, but Alaska would march methodically down the field and score a touchdown Auburn would answer with a 58 yard reception where he made 4 defenders miss, and Stevie Reese scored the touchdown to tie it at 14. Alaska had a promising drive, converting on fourth and 2 from the 40 but a fumble ended the drive and half. Alaska would punt and also bench Marcus Bailey. Auburn punted and Glover sustained a concussion. The reliable receiver has been huge this year. Alaska would punt again, and Marcus Bailey has dropped 3 balls on 3 targets this year. Auburn's quarterback would get hurt, but Marcus Bozeman would find the end zone as Auburn took a 21-14 lead. Momentum was on Auburn's side as they picked Patrick Cole off, but they had to settle for a field goal. Then, Cole threw ANOTHER interception, but Ellis Schultz who feels like he's been at Alaska for 10 years picked off a pass and took it down close to the goal line. Alaska had to settle for a field goal because I had that option glitch happen where the quarterback froze during the handoff. 24-17. After an Auburn punt, Alaska went for it on fourth and 8 from the 38... No-mans-land and they converted. With 4:39 left Jeremy Cronin hit a 33 yard field goal to make it 24-20. Pete McCoy would pick off an Auburn pass. Mark Roberts would make a diving catch at the 1 and Van Ward would punch it in with 4:12 left. The defense would hold and Alaska would leave Auburn, Alabama with a win 27-24. Alaska kept Auburn's Heisman candidate (and I think winner previously) to only 44 yards.
#18 Alaska vs. Pittsburgh Pittsburgh is a good team who was coming off losses against two top ten teams. Both teams started off with touchdowns. Alaska would pick up a 49 yard field goal at the start of the second quarter, and they'd bounce a 57-yarder off the crossbar for a miss later. Alaska would recover a fumble in Pitt's redzone, but would have to punt from their own 2. Pittsburgh would punt, but Patrick Cole would throw a pick 6. Alaska would answer with a 37-yard field goal to end the half. Pitt lead 14-13 coming out of half, but George Thomas immediately gave Alaska the lead on a 74-yard end around. Pitt would punt and Jonathan Williams would catch a 70 yard pass and Alaska would convert the 2-point attempt to make it 28-14. Alaska would hit a field goal to make it 31-14, and George Thomas would score a touchdown early in the fourth. Lamar Douglas would recover a sack fumble, and Alaska would eventually win the game 38-14 Notable games around the country
