Maddox is the lowest-rated QB on the roster, but only by 4 and 3 OVR. IRL he was only with the Rams in '94 but I may hold on to him longer. Depends on if we get a QB in the '95 draft.

Yeah 94 was the year Everett left the Rams to head to the Saints, leaving the Rams looking for a QB. Miller and Chandler were the vets brought in the compete for the starting job well Maddox was the young gun who was backing up Elway and got dealt to the Ram's. All 3 QB's went on to have decent years with other teams well the Rams went through the Tony Banks and Marc Bulger years before finally finding Warner.
Hopefully you can find your Kurt Warner earlier in this franchise.

I spent some time pondering what to do about Warner since he was a rookie in 1994. With four new teams in the league, it would be theoretically possible for him to have made one of the rosters. Then I heard him on the Rich Eisen show the other day and he mentioned his struggle in the league, and I decided that the grocery-stocking, Arena League stroryline was too good to pass up. Of course I already knew about it but I just decided it needed to be include here. What I find interesting though is that he was going to have a tryout with the Bears in '97 but a nasty spider bit on his throw elbow, which he received on his honeymoon, waylaid the tryout. What if he had never gotten that spider bite?...
In their final preseason game of 1994, the Los Angeles Rams found the end zone only one time. Fortunately the LA defense played well enough for Tony Zendejas to kick the Rams to a 22-14 victory with 5 field goals. However, there is an unfortunately as well. Jerome Bettis suffered an abdominal tear on his second carry of the contest and is expected to be out until “sometime in October”. Although Johnny Bailey had a good showing at Lambeau, he’ll not likely carry the team to any regular season wins, putting more pressure on whoever Chuck Knox decides to name the starting quarterback. None of the three on the roster was able to give Knox a clear-cut choice by way of preseason performances.

Since the end of last season, the Los Angeles Rams have had 100% turnover at quarterback. Rams fans will remember 1993 as the year Jim Everett imploded and got benched in facor of T.J. Rubley, who made 7 starts. LA traded Everett to the Saints (the only team that offered anything) for a 1995 7th round pick 12 days after signing former Falcons QB Chris Miller to a 3 year contract. Rubley and ‘93 third-stringer Mike Pagel also departed, and when camp opened the Rams had three new signal-callers on the roster, with Chris Chandler and Tommy Maddox joining Miller. Miller, who has had two reconstructive knee surgeries, peaked with the Falcons in 1991, when he threw for 3,103 yards and 26 TD’s. The 13th overall pick of the 1987 draft had a career-high QBR of 90.7 in 1992, but he missed half the season due to his second knee injury. Last season he quickly fell out of favor and was supplanted by Bobby Hebert. Chandler is now with his 4th team and seems to be a career backup, but he was given ample opportunity to compete with Miller for the starting job. Maddox was the latest arrival, with the UCLA alum coming back to Los Angeles via a trade with the Denver Broncos, who inexplicably invested their 1992 first round pick in Maddox as John Elway’s heir apparent despite Elway only being 31 at the time. The new salary cap made Maddox an overpriced backup, and the Broncos were willing to accept a 1995 4th round pick for him. During the preseason, none of the QB's really showed head coach Chuck Knox what he wanted to see, as between them they threw only 2 TD passes while getting picked 6 times. Although Miller had 3 of those INT's, he had the highest completion percentage (61) and posted an 85.8 passer rating, and as Knox put it, he was the favorite going into exhibition play and the other two did not beat him out. At time Maddox looked like the best QB on the roster, but there were also time that he did not, and he only completed 51% of his passes. While he'll be the third string QB on opening day, the coaching staff thought he flashed the potential to become the team's starter in a future season. Chandler's completion percentage was just below Miller's (60), but he didn't throw a TD and was picked twice, resulting in a team low QBR of 59.0. He was, however, deemed less raw than Maddox and thus held on to the no. 2 spot.
