Re: Terrifying TAmpa - A Tampa Bay Bucs Career (NFL Head Coach 09)

Bucs introduce Coach Plum

Coach Plum: "I will be retaining all of the current assistants. I want to thank them for sticking here this year to help me adjust to my first season as a head coach. I have talked to Monte [Kiffin] and even though we will be going to an all-man coverage defense, which is the exact opposite of Coach Kiffin's Tampa 2 scheme, he will be staying here in Tampa this season to help implement my scheme and as a thank you I have given him my blessing to go get a head coaching position next year. On offense we will be running by variation of the triple option offense where the FB only blocks and has no run options. On defense we will run a 4-3 and bring pressure from 6-7 players on every play. We will leave our 4-5 CBs in man coverage on an island every play. As of now our only building blocks on the team are G's Arron Sears and Davin Joseph on offense and DE Gaines Adams and MLB Barrett Ruud on defense. Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber will be staying on to help young players and help institute the culture and toughness that I want in the team. Even though neither are great fits for my scheme, they have deserved the right to be life-time Bucs. Thank for your time. Let's go bring a Super Bowl to Tampa."

Scheme Sample Plays:

Offense:

Defense (4-3 with LBs blitzing. 4-5 CBs all in single man coverage. Put 3rd CB at "FS" and 4th at "SS" for ease in team building goals and depth chart purposes.):

Re: Terrifying Tampa - A Tampa Bay Bucs Career (NFL Head Coach 09)

BUCS Draft Signings:

Years/Total Contract Value, Signing Bonus

Glenn Dorsey: 5/$35.77mil, $8mil SB
Sedrick Ellis: 5/$38.96mil, $8mil SB
Darren McFadden: 5/$15.9mil, $5.50mil SB
Jamaal Charles: 3/$1.61mil, no SB
Pat Sims: 3/$1.79mil, no SB
Red Bryant: 3/$1.21mil, no SB
Athya Rubin, 3/$900k, no SB
Dejuan Tribble, 3/$680k, no SB

Glenn Dorsey signs his new contract. Welcome to TAMPA!

Coach Plum's thoughts on draft decisions:

Plum: "We are so excited about this draft. We feel this will be like the 1995 draft with Sapp and Brooks. Dorsey will play DT, Ellis will play LE, and Sims will be our NT. We think these 3 can form a dominating DL for years with Gaines Adams. Darren [McFadden], or DMC as he is called, will basically play the "Wildcat QB" like he sometimes played at Arkansas. I believe in putting the ball in the hands of our best player, so having him at "QB" will maximize his opportunities. We were hoping for 2 of Dorsey, Ellis, and McFadden. We had them all in for predraft visits at the same time and pitched them the idea of coming to play here. Once we saw the draft playing out like it did we texted them all and told them to get their swim trunks packed because they were coming to Tampa. We had already lined up possible trades in the draft based on how the draft went, and we couldn't be happier. We think Jamaal [Charles] can be a great weapon with DMC in the run game. We got Red Bryant and Athya Rubin to provide excellent depth to our dline and allow us to sub frequently and keep our guys fresh. Dejuan Tribble can be our current starting "FS" and 3rd corner. Look for these guys to all make plays this year."

Recap:
Darren McFadden scored a 4yd TD run with 0:24 left and Stephen Gostkowski missed the extra point to tie the game...

Coach Plum: "This is a very disappointing to end my first game. If Gostkowski continues to struggle we will have to look elsewhere for kicking help. I am proud of our defense for shutting down the Saint's high powered offense and DMC was amazing."
