the red c's Tennessee Volunteers - Feels Like '98

Hello all and welcome to my Tennessee Volunteers Dynasty. The Volunteers have always been my favorite team to cheer for out of any sport. The last decade hasn't been to kind to us, not since Phillip Fulmer left. So in this take with the Vols, the former head coach returns to Tennessee to try and win won more championship.

The rosters are from the '16-'17 season, and I have simulated the first year but I will not be recording any of those stats or posting about that year. However, LSU went 14-0 and beat Louisville in the title game 35-13. Tennessee went 9-4. Some notable players who left the team were Josh Dobbs, Cam Sutton, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin. So we will begin in the 2014 season on the game and carry on from there. I look forward trying to bring the Volunteers back to the glory days with Phillip Fulmer leading the charge.

Re: the red c's Tennessee Volunteers - Feels Like '98

KNOXVILLE, TN -- Former national champion head coach Phillip Fulmer returns to Rocky Top to once again coach the Volunteers. Fulmer won the national title in 1998 when Tennessee defeated Florida State; however, he was fired in 2008 as the program started to slip under his watch. The head coach compiled a 152-52 (.745%) record during his time with the Vols.

It is a bit skeptical bringing back the former coach only 6 years after firing him. Fulmer has remained vocal about his love for the football program as well as the university itself, so he does not seem to harbor any bad feelings toward the school.

Hiring Phillip Fulmer signals that the Tennessee program seeks stability and a desperate need to not slip any further in the college football echelon. Fulmer is a guy who knows the Knoxville area extremely well and should have no problem slipping back in as head coach. Vol nation is desperate to back on top in the college football world and there may be no better man tasked for the job.

South Florida Bulls 0-0 @ #8 Tennessee Volunteers 0-0
Phillip Fulmer and the Volunteers open up 2014 with a victory

Date: Sunday, August 31st, 2014
Time: 3:30 PM Central
Channel: ESPN

Game Recap: -- KNOXVILLE, TN -- The second act of Phillip Fulmer's coaching career at Tennessee got off to a great start this past weekend. The Vols overcame a slow start en route to a 39-14 win to pick up their first victory on the season and Fulmer's first back as head coach.

The Volunteers were led by All-SEC running back Alvin Kamara. Kamara ran for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was a mismatch all afternoon for USF as they never had an answer for him. Kamara's backup, John Kelly, also had a spectacular day running the football. Kelly picked up 145 yards and also found the end zone twice.

Redshirt freshman QB Jarret Guarantano had a rough day. The first time starter threw 3 INT's against 1 TD. He ended the day 13-25 for 100 yards. Fulmer reported after the game that there will be no QB battle this week heading into Oklahoma. Despite the poor showing today, Guarantano remains the starter heading forward.

Defensively the Vols played about as good as you can ask for. They gave up two early touchdowns but pitched a shutout in the second half. Derek Barnett and Darrin Kirkland Jr. each had big showings. Together they racked up 15 tackles and 8 TFL. The Vols defense swarmed to the ball all game long and looked really fast in their first game.

It was a solid first win back for Phillip Fulmer, but there will be no time for rest with a road trip to Norman, OK to take on the #2 Sooners looming ahead. Gaurantano will have to play much better in a hostile environment if the Vols want to win.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS: 1-0 - GO VOLS!
