The Tale of the New York Jets: The Samchize.
After a surprising 2017 season, the Jets finished 5-11. Now that may not be that great on paper but you were really able to see the fight that this team had. The young players stepped up and became leaders on this football team. After the season, Mike Maccagnan and the Jets brass had one main goal. Finding a franchise quarterback. And they have believed to have done that by trading up and drafting the gunslinger out of USC, Sam Darnold, with the 3rd pick. At only 20 years old there will be no rush to play him as we still have Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown ahead of him at this moment. But expect to see him sooner, rather than later. -
Re: The Tale of the New York Jets: The Samchize.
2018-2019 PRE-SEASON PRESS CONFERENCE
Q: Coach Bowles you've brought in Teddy Bridgewater and resigned Josh McCown and drafted Sam Darnold. Who is the front runner to start week 1 at buffalo.
A: Well we brought in competition at the QB position to try and get the best out of all of our guys. Obviusly we've drafted a high QB in Sam and he will have every opportunity to win the job but like I've said, there is no rush for him to play week one. We Believe in what all three of them can do and the best man will play week 1.
Q: Coach You've hired a new Offensive coordinator for this season, what changes can we expect to see on that side of the ball this season.
A: Well it was joint decision to promote Jeremy Bates as he is well respected throughout our organization. You can expect to see a lot more Vertical Shots down the field as if we can stretch the field it will help our running game but we still are going to pride ourselves on a west coast based attack. Looking at lat years film I believe we became a little too pass happy at times and you can expect us to be a much more balanced team.
Q: You mention being more balanced on offensively. Last season you ran a committee with forte, Powell, and McGuire. Should we expect to see more of the same this season?
A: We'd always like to have a 3 down back in this league but we have a stable of backs who are talented and can contribute to this team. Currently we have a rotation with Powell being the first man up. No position is safe.
Q: How comfortable do you feel about the pass rush this season as it was ranked near the bottom of the league last year.
A: Well I'm not worried at all. We've got a great group of guys that are hungry and ready to chase the Quarterback. We revamped the secondary so that is going to help them tremendously. I expect to be getting after the QB a lot this season.
Q:What are your expectations for the upcoming season?
A: Well I believe this team is hungry and ready to shock the league. Last season they doubted us and they are doubting us again. That's fine, I want to fly under the radar. We are a team whose ready to compete and hopefully by the end of the year we string together enough wins to be in the playoffs. Thank you that's all the time I have today.Attached Files -

Jets release week 1 depth chart
After a woeful preseason that saw the Jets go 0-4, Todd Bowles has released his week 1 starters. For the first shocker we saw Teddy Bridgewater win the QB competition after an impressive preseason. The thinking here is let Teddy play to either become the face of this franchise or get himself some trade value. Josh McCown will serve as the backup and personal mentor to Darnold while Teddy gets the 1st team reps. At the Tight end position former 5th round pick Jordan Leggett emerged as the starter. After being placed on IR last season he'll look to prove himself this upcoming season. The Star of the preseason was Chad Hanson. The 2nd year pro out of Cal really emerged and has received high praise from the whole coaching staff. Defensively there was no noise. Every predicted started held his spot. One position to look at was the nickel corner. It will be interesting to see how long Buster Skrine be able to hold his Job. With week one right around the corner hopefully the jets can work out the kinks from preseason or it will be another long season in New York.Comment

Re: The Tale of the New York Jets: The Samchize.
Teddy Bridgewater Shines In Jets Debut
Teddy Bridgewater and the jets made the trip into buffalo for their week one opener vs the Bills. Both teams had quarterbacks making there team debuts. Teddy with the Jets and Josh Allen the 7th overall pick making his first career start. Going into the game the Jets game plan was to get pressure. They knew they had to get into the young quarterbacks head and that's what happened.
To open up the game Teddy Bridgewater would carve up the Bills secondary going 4/4 for 45 yards and a beautifully thrown ball after stepping up in the pocket into the back of the end zone to Terrelle Pryor SR. That would cap off an 8 play 74 yard drive. The resulting possession would be one for Josh Allen to forget. His first NFL snap resulted in him getting sacked for a 7 yard loss by Kevin Minter. Just 2 plays later Josh Allen would try to buy time and end up being chased down by Leonard Williams for a 13 yard loss. The ensuing possession the jets would come up with a field goal.
Fast forward to the middle of the 2nd quarter and Josh Allen would look to be the quarterback Buffalo wants him to be after drafting him 7th overall. He would orchestrate a 3 play 76 yard drive all coming through the air. To cap it off he found Kelvin Benjamin on a 21 yard post where he beat Morris Claiborne to the inside.
Following this both offenses would become pretty stagnant as the Jets were clinging on to a 10-7 lead. Coming up on the 2 minute warning the Jets had the ball on their own 14 yard line. Teddy would line up in the gun and end up checking the ball down to Robby Anderson on a short crossing route and he would end up braking 3 tackles and take it 86 yards to the house to put the jets up 17-7 going into the half. The 3rd quarter was quite a defensive battle. The whole quarter neither team could get anything going but the Jets were able to muster up 6 points on field goals thanks to their defense spotting them field position.
Late in the fourth up 23-7 teddy bridge water throws an interception to Bills linebacker Nick Kwiatkowski which would set buffalo up on the jets 17. 2 plays later while being pressured Josh Allen tried to force the ball to Charles clay in the flat but Trumaine Johnson read it and jumped the route and took the ball 93 yards on his way to his first interception and first touchdown with the New York Jets after signing a lucrative contract in the off season. The Jets would lead 30-7 with 3:23 left in the ball game.
After leading his team from the 25 all the way down the Jets 14, Josh Allen makes another mistake and forces a pass up to kelvin Benjamin but this time Morris Claiborne gets the best of him by picking him off in the end zone. The jets would end up running the rest of the clock out and cruising easily to a 30-7 victory.
Teddy Bridgewater showed why he was given the starting gig and didn’t look back, Sam Darnold looks like he will be waiting in the wings for the foreseeable future. Teddy ended up with 308 passing yards to go along with 3 touchdowns through the air and a 76% completion percentage. The two-headed rushing attack between Crowell and Powell worked well, they complemented each other nicely. Combining for 116 yards on 28 attempts averaging 4.1 yards a carry. Robby Anderson had himself a day going for 154 yards on 5 catches. Continuing to develop the route tree and build off last year’s breakout season. The belief around the building is that he has the potential to be a top 10 receiver this season. Quincy Enumwa also had a solid day on minimal targets averaging 14.3 yards per catch. The offensive line was for the most part solid but at times shaky. On they day they allowed 4 sacks. Defensively the jets bottled up McCoy only allowing 46 yards on 14 carries. In total buffalo only ran for 58 yards on the jets. The run defense looked elite today. The Secondary played outstanding forcing Josh Allen to make mistakes and not give up big plays. This also played in part due to the pass rush the jets were able to generate. In total the Jets came down with 3 sacks and 6 hurries. This led to long 3rd downs that Allen just couldn’t handle. And through the game the Bills just couldn’t communicate it seemed, committing 11 penalties for 55 yards. It would stall drives. That was the story of the game. The more disciplined team won the game. We’ll see if this was some early luck or if the Jets are for real this season with a road game against Oakland and new Head Coach Jon Gruden.

Thanks for following. I'm sure we'll see the USC golden boy at some point this season but if teddy continues this play its gonna be hard to get him in. Teddy could end up playing himself into being a valuable trade asset for us.Comment
