Nagy Breaks With Tradition, Bears Still Beat Chiefs

Week 3 of the NFL preseason traditionally sees “dress rehearsal” games in which teams’ anticipated starters get the vast majority of the snaps. First-year Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy departed from that tradition, however as his club took on former boss Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs. Nagy sat QB Mitchell Trubisky and most of his first-teamers, perplexing many of those who were expecting to play. Despite backups going against KC’s 1's much of the time, the contest yielded a 27-20 Chicago victory. The Bears insurance policy, Chase Daniel, completed 15 of 18 passes for 198 yards and 2 TD’s, including one to 7th round pick Javon Wims, who had 4 catches for 114 yards and who leads the Bears in exhibition receiving with 15 grabs for 227 yards. Former Nagy protege Patrick Mahomes II went 18-of-24 for 196 yards and a TD and Tyreek Hill had 8 catches for 88 yards.

Price was steep but much better to have him chasing Rodgers than Trubisky.

Bears Conclude Preseason With Loss To Bills

In a game which had very little meaning other than to fringe players who may have secured a roster spot, the Chicago Bears were defeated 28-27 in their final preseason game. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the contest was that Buffalo needs to start Josh Allen in Week 1. A.J. McCarron was 13-of-34 (38.2%) for 197 yards with 3 TD’s and 2 picks.
