Re: BleedGreen Madden 08 Franchise

As someone who is also still playing this title to this day on the pc. This warms my heart. Looking forward to following this.

I have a franchise going as well with the fictional roster from footballidiots.

Seahawks collect 2 awards

Seahawks HB LaDainian Tomlinson and CB Sam Madison won the NFC offensive and defense player of the week awards after their great performance week 1 of the season.

Week 2 Matchup Preview

After beating up the overmatched Buccaneers at home week 1, Seattle now has to travel out to the Arizona desert to take on a much tougher team in their first NFC West game of the season. Lead by QB Tom Brady (98), the Cardinals passing attack is one of the best in the league on paper. WR Reggie Wayne (94), T.J Houshmanzadeh (92), and Isaac Bruce (87) might be the toughest trio of receivers in the league - and they are matched up against one of the best trio of cornerbacks in the league as Seattle has Champ Bailey (99), Sam Madison (88), and Antonio Cromarite (84). Rookie HB Marshawn Lynch (82) could be tough to stop as well. They only managed 14 points in the opener though so it remains to be seen how good they might be. The Seahawks will need to get after the QB like they did last week where they recorded 8 sacks. On defense, Arizona is lead by their stud linebackers Terrell Suggs (91), Dan Morgan (89), and Keith Bullock (96). CB Ty Law (91), who had 2 interceptions week 1, is the leader of the secondary.

I am going to predict a close loss in this game. Arizona's defense lines up very well to defend my offense. Tomlinson should have a tough time up against their linebackers and they have Ty Law to defend against Hines Ward. I don't have confidence in David Garrard to win this game if the running game proves to be difficult early on. An X-Factor this game could be Tomlinson's usage in the passing game as well as rookie Tedd Ginn Jr.'s big play capability. Keep an eye on that.

Re: BleedGreen Madden 08 Franchise

Seahawks fall to Brady's Cardinals

Tom Brady got the best of the Seahawks, completing 71% of his passes for 273 yards. He converted 3 redzone trips into 3 touchdown passes, 2 of which were to HB Marshawn Lynch. The Seahawks 2 redzone trips resulted in just 2 field goals.

Seattle's first 3 plays of the game were runs to LaDainian Tomlinson, and they went 3 & out. This was a preview of how the entire game would play out as Tomlinson was stopped all game long. He finished with 13 carries for 35 yards and no receptions.

QB David Garrard threw 2 costly interceptions, one inside his own 20 which resulted in a touchdown and another late in the 4th quarter with a chance to score and tie the game. He finished 17/36 for 230 yards and 2 TDs.

Garrard's best moment was a broken tackle out of a sack and heave downfield to Joe Horn for big yards on a 3rd down. Horn had 8 catches for 117 yards and was a bright spot on offense. Tony Gonzalez caught the Seahawks only touchdown, he finished with 2 catches for 44 yards.

Seattle's last chance to tie it came with 2 minutes to go, down by 8. Garrard's 4th down pass to Hines Ward went off his hands and incomplete. Ward has been almost invisible so far this season.

The Seahawks defense had their ups and downs. CB Champ Bailey locked down WR Reggie Wayne for 2 catches and 15 yards however on the otherside T.J Houshmanzadeh had his way with Sam Madison, 7 catches for 124 yards. DE Tamba Hali's sack was his 4th of the season and he's tied for the league lead through 2 games but he was the only one to reach Brady and he had all day to throw. MLB Kirk Morrison had an interception but got trucked by Marshawn Lynch and gave up a big first down earlier in the game.

The Seahawks are now 1-1 and trailing 2-0 Arizona in the NFC West. Next week they will take on the 0-2 Bengals.

Week 3 Matchup Preview

The Bengals come into Seattle with an 0-2 record despite having a top 10 ranked offense and defense based on yardage. The Bengals 3rd ranked offense in the league has scored the 11th most points, and although they have the 5th highest ranked defense they rank terribly, 28th, in points allowed. On offense, they don't have any big name playmakers. TE Jeremy Shockey (92), WR Braylon Edwards (88), and HB Chester Taylor (87) are the top threats on an underwhelming unit. QB Jay Cutler (86) is out for 3 weeks with a sprained elbow so backup QB Joey Harrington (76) will get the start. Guard Steve Hutchinson (97) rounds out an above average offensive line. Their front 7 on defense is a pretty strong group headlined by DE Louis Castillo (91), DE Derrick Burgess (93), and MLB Ray Lewis (96). Their secondary on the other hand ranks among the leagues worst. Safety Sean Considine (83) is their best DB on paper, and he wouldn't even start for most teams. I predict a big win for the Seahawks this week as they are back at home and have a much more talented team then Cincinnati, even if they had a healthy Jay Cutler. I don't see Joey Harrington and the Bengals being able to put up enough points to keep up with Seattle who's receivers should be able to take advantage of their terrible defensive backs.

Re: BleedGreen Madden 08 Franchise

Seahawks offense doesn't show up

The Seahawks appeared to have a favorable matchup however the offense only managed 3 points and they somehow found a way to lose to backup QB Joey Harrington and the Bengals in an embarrassing performance at home. The Seahawks fall to 1-2 and are now last place in the NFC West as the 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams are all 2-1.

The Bengals sacked QB David Garrard 5 times and he was always under pressure. The passing game never got into rhythm. Garrard threw for just 148 yards against a secondary that was thought to be one of the worst in the league. WR Joe Horn had another nice game with 85 yards but the rest of the offense was absent. Deep threat WR Ted Ginn Jr. looked to add a spark to the offense however he dropped a touchdown pass early in the game and Garrard never went back to him. After 3 weeks the Seahawks are ranked 31st in pass offense and 28th in total offense.

Bengals MLB Ray Lewis was dominant all game long chasing down tacklers and making bit hits. He lead all defenders with 12 tackles and 1 sack and helped hold LaDainian Tomlinson to just 76 yards.

WR Doug Gabriel's 4th quarter 54 yard touchdown increased the Bengals lead to 16-3 and put the dagger into Seattle.

After being stopped at the goal line on offense, Seahawks OLB Tim Shaw forced a fumble which was recovered in the end zone for a touchdown by DT Hollis Thomas late in the game, but it was too late as the ensuing onsides kick attempt failed. Shaw had his best game so far with 8 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 FF. Champ Bailey and Michael Griffin each had an interception - but they could not be converted into points.

Week 4 Matchup Preview

In an important week 4 matchup the last place 1-2 Seahawks are looking to keep up in the NFC West on the road against the rival 2-1 49ers. While the Seahawks defense has showed up this year the offense has struggled aside from a week 1 player of the week performance from LaDainian Tomlinson. But Tomlinson is not enough on his own, someone else has to step up for this team. The 49ers offense has not been much better. Their highest skill position player on offense is QB Jake Delhomme (86) - but their strength is in the offensive line with LT Levi Jones (91), LG Brian Waters (95), and a right side of the line that is almost just as good. Their defense is great and has no real weakness, with playmakers at each level; DT Tommy Harris (97), MLB London Fletcher (93), and CB Rashean Mathis (95). I predict a tough loss for the Seahawks here on the road. Things just aren't clicking for them right now and this is a tough matchup against a 49ers team trending in the right direction after 2 wins in a row.
