Front office personnel often say you need 3-4 years to accurately measure a draft class, but certainly the idea is to get instant impact from the premium players (top 100) you selected. The players the Cowboys selected in rounds 1 and 2 are starting to make that impact.

Rookie free safety Marshall Rock forced a fumble on special teams in the first quarter, recovered another fumble in the 2nd half, and made 8 tackles.

Rookie OLB Sean Kirtman, in his first start over Sean Lee, made 12 tackles, including 3 sacks. He was recognized as the NFC defensive player of the week; quite an accomplishment in his first start.

The contributions from both rookies helped slow down a Carolina offense that was making plays, allowing Dallas to steal an OT win on the road.
