Can Seahawks return to Playoff From in 2018?

After missing the playoffs in 2017, Pete Carroll looks to get back to his style of football to carry the Seahawks back to the postseason in 2018

Seattle - The Seahawks are ready to right the ship. After a disappointing season that saw them miss double digit victories and the playoffs for the first time since 2011, many people are tabbing this as a semi-rebuilding season for Pete Carroll and the Hawks. Gone are LOB members Richard Sherman, and Kam Chancellor. Sheldon Richardson, Jimmy Graham, Paul Richardson, and countless other contributors are gone as well, as Pete and John Schnieder's roster has seen the most turnover this off season since the first year of their regime. However in the building, the team isn't buying the rebuilding talk. "We think we can compete with any team in the league with the guys in this building." Head Coach Pete Carroll said when we talked to him. "We approach every game the same way, it's another championship opportunity. Every week we have a chance to be great, no matter who's out there on Sunday." The optimism is high inside the VMAC, however outside, there are many doubts about what this team can accomplish this year in the NFC West. The Rams are the prohibitive favorites, with a revamped roster that is clearly built to win right now, The 49ers finished 2017 on a five game winning streak behind their brand new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. In fact many pundits are tabbing the Hawks as having a better chance for a top ten pick, than for a playoff berth. "We can't be worried about what everyone else thinks." Quarterback Russell Wilson said. "We are in this facility everyday, I see what these guys are capable of, and the sky is the limit for what we can accomplish this season." Hawks fans hope that the optimism Pete, and Russ are showing publicly will translate into wins on the field this season.

The Roster

After a grueling training camp, and a preseason that did not see the Seahawks get a win. The Seahawks made their final cuts on Saturday. These are the 53 men that Seattle is hoping leads them back to the post season in 2018.

Re: Back to Basics - Seattle Seahawks Madden '19 CFM

Week 1

Denver - The Seattle Seahawks kick off the 2018 season with a rematch of Superbowl XLVIII when they head to Denver to take on the Denver Broncos. Both these teams hardly resemble the squads that took the field in 2013. That matchup featured the most prolific offenses of all time led by Peyton Manning for the Broncos, against one of the greatest defenses of all time the Legion of Boom, and the Seattle Seahawks. Manning is retired, the LOB is gone, and the Broncos are now the team that has the dominant defense amongst these two teams. Both squads are coming off disappointing 2017 campaigns, looking to get back to form, and get off to a good start on Sunday. The game kicks off at 1:25 PT from Broncos Stadium at Mile High.

Re: Back to Basics - Seattle Seahawks Madden '19 CFM

Hawks Hang On in Mile High

Denver - The Seahawks used the power of six sacks by their defense to keep the Broncos at bay while they pounded the rock, and controlled the clock to come from behind for a 27-21 win on the road to kick off the 2018 campaign. Denver jumped out to an early 14-3 lead on the Seahawks before they got their bearings and turned up the pressure on Case Keenum. Seattle then scored 24 straight on Denver as Russell Wilson had an efficient 24-28 performance, and Seattle ran for 136 yards on Denver. The Broncos looked to be pushing for a score early in the fourth quarter, but Bradley McDougald made a key interception in the red zone to end the threat. Denver got a garbage time TD late, but the game was already out of reach once Seattle recovered the ensuing onside kick. Seattle will now head out for their second straight road game to start the year when they face the Chicago Bears next Sunday at Soldier Field.

Thanks! Keenum lit me up pretty good, but about 175 of those yards were in garbage time in the fourth.

Re: Back to Basics - Seattle Seahawks Madden '19 CFM

Week 2

Chicago - The Seahawks look to start off the year with two straight road wins, but it will be a tough task to accomplish as they march into Soldier Field Monday night to take on the Chicago Bears. Chicago has a revamped defense with Khalil Mack acquired during training camp, to go with what they are hoping will be an electric offense with Mitchell Trubisky entering his second season, and the two headed monster or Jordan Howard, and Tarik Cohen toting the rock out of the backfield. Meanwhile Seattle will look to continue their run first approach that worked out for them in Denver even after they fell behind on Sunday. Monday night's game kicks off from Soldier Field at 5:15 pm PST.

WOW! TD Fant! That is definitely one great benefit of playing Madden since rosters can be so updated that you have Fant lining up at TE. very cool. I have really enjoyed watching the Seahawks offense this year, I can't think of any but I'm sure there are teams that have consistently trotted out 6 OL half the time. :-) Good luck moving forward Glen.
