Winning in the Windy City | A Chicago Bears Dynasty (M19)

OSHeader.jpg

Introduction
Hello everyone and welcome to my first attempt at a dynasty thread here on OS. I have been a longtime reader of many great football dynasties here, and finally have decided to try my hand at one. I am still learning some things with posting so bear with me as I get used to it. The first few posts will have some team and league info, so please don't post until I say it's okay. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy! (Disclaimer: I started this franchise a few weeks ago and have already played through the first season, and have decided to start this dynasty reporting at the beginning of the 2019 season and include a recap of the 2018 season and offseason (FA, Draft) just to get everyone up to the point the 'chise is at now.)

League Settings:
Team: Chicago Bears
Starting Point: 2019 Season with 2018 season/offseason recap
Game: Madden 19
Console: PS4
Difficulty: All-Pro
Rosters: Official End of Season Roster (SB Week)
Quarter Length: 8 minutes w/ no accel clock

House Rules:
I have a few rules I like to try to stick to for the most realistic experience in franchise.
-Limit of two trades maximum before trade deadline.
-Cannot call the same play in one game more than three times.
-Must keep LS on the roster.
-Only free agents signed during the season are for depth if a player is injured.

Re: Winning in the Windy City | A Chicago Bears Dynasty (M19)

2018 Season/Offseason Recap

Since this franchise is starting with the 2019 season, I would like to post all of the major offseason moves and a brief 2018 season recap to get everyone up to speed.

The Chicago Bears started their 2018 season 8-0, but limped to a 10-6 finish as injuries began to pile up for key players such as Allen Robinson II and Eddie Jackson. This caused them to slide to a wild card spot after leading the NFC North for a majority of the season. The NFL North was won by the Detroit Lions with a 10-6 mark and a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Bears, giving them their first division title since 1993.
The Bears offense put up very good numbers, as Mitchell Trubisky shattered the single season Bears records for passing yards and passing TDs in just his second season. The defense performed well, although it started to struggle in the second half of the season. Newly acquired pass rusher Khalil Mack put on a show in his first season in Chicago, breaking Michael Strahan's NFL record for sacks in a single season by half a sack, finishing the year with 23.0.

2018 Playoff Results
Wild Card Round
Ravens 35, Patriots 10
Bears 10, Rams 24
Colts 21, Texans 17
Eagles 27, Lions 26

Divisional Round

2019 NFL Draft Recap

2019 NFL Draft - Chicago Bears Selections

Draft Analysis: The Bears did not have first or second round picks as they were traded away in the Khalil Mack deal. With their first pick, the Bears seemed to go with the best player available, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown. The speedster from Oklahoma will likely see time in the slot behind Taylor Gabriel and Anthony Miller, and will likely help with kick return duties as well. Nasir Adderley was taken two picks later, and will be solid safety depth behind Eddie Jackson and Adrian Amos. His flexibility between being able to play both safety positions was a key factor in his selection. Edge rusher Sutton Smith is a local talent, and a two-time NCAA All-American and MAC Defensive Player of the Year. He should be able to come in and quicky learn behind Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd, as well as newly signed free agent Terrell Suggs. Josh Oliver joins a crowded TE room for the Bears that already includes Trey Burton, Adam Shaheen, and Ben Braunecker. The Bears commonly like to keep 4 TE's on the roster, so Oliver will likely start off as the 4th TE on the depth chart, competing with Ben Braunecker for snaps in 3 TE sets. Another player selected from an Illinois school, Khalen Saunders comes out of the FCS looking to show his stuff in the NFL. While a viral video began trending of the 310 pound defensive tackle doing backflips a couple months before the draft, his draft stock seemed to truly rise from his solid performance at the Senior Bowl. The first of two 7th round selections, QB Tyree Jackson from Buffalo has astonishing size for a QB. The Bears were happy to see that he was still available this late, and quickly scooped him up as the draft came close to an end. With their final pick in the 2019 draft, the Bears drafted a kicker for the first time since the 2000 NFL Draft. LSU's Cole Tracy seems to be the early leader to become the starting kicker this September. Tracy was 29 for 33 on field goals this season, and Bears fans are hoping they can finally get some consistency at the position, something they haven't had since Robbie Gould's release before the 2016 season.
