Re: Fool's Gold
Can't force wins. Maybe because all teams are user-controlled.

Re: Fool's Gold
Should get this game in today although I'm not sure how soon I'll get it posted. Been dealing with upper abdominal/lower back pain the last couple of days and I'm not feeling spending much time in the desk chair.
Apparently Madden can't count to 53 this year. 53 men was "too many" for about 2/3 of the teams and 1-5 cuts had to be made for the game to allow training drills and super-simming games.

Re: Fool's Gold
Niners Open ‘19 With Road Win It wasn’t pretty, but the San Francisco 49ers got it done, garnering a 30-23 road victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to open the 2019 season. Jimmy Garoppolo showed no ill effects from the knee injury that prematurely ended his 2018 season, throwing for 299 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and the first game of the Kyle Shanahan-Tevin Coleman reunion yielded 85 rushing yards by the former Falcon. The game was a nip-and-tuck one, with a double digit lead (for the Niners) lasting only from 13:26 to 2:05 of the third quarter. With San Francsico winning by only a touchdown, the margin of victory came down to two critical mistakes by the Bucs. With only 14 ticks remaining in the first half, and with the score tied at 10, Jameis Winston threw an 80 yard pick-six to Richard Sherman, and in the first series of the second half, Vernon Hargreaves III mis-timed his bid for an INT, allowing Dante Pettis to score on a 66 yard catch and run. The Bucs punted after generating one first down in the opening drive. With San Francisco’s first series having reached a 3rd and 12 at the Tampa Bay 26, a pass interference call against Jordan Whitehead gave the Niners a first and goal at the 6. On 3rd and goal from the 2, Garoppolo found Marquise Goodwin in the end zone. It took the Bucs a little more than a minute to answer with a 41 yard strike from Jameis Winston to Mike Evans, after which there was a lull until the 49ers regained the lead with Robbie Gould’s 36 yard field goal with 7:23 remaining in the first half. The score was tied again when Tampa’s rookie kicker, Matt Gay, hit a 23 yard field goal at 1:26 before the break. Sherman’s pick-six followed a San Francisco three and out, and the half ended with Nick Bosa’s first career sack. Pettis’s touchdown reception established the game’s biggest lead, with the Niners holding a 24-10 advantage. The Bucs’ first possession of the second half yielded a 51 yard boot by Gay, which was answered by Gould’s 29 yard kick. At the 2:05 mark of the third quarter, Evans made his second touchdown catch to make it a one-score game at 27-20 as the final quarter began. A 31 yard reception by rookie Deebo Samuel gave the Niners a first and goal at the 6, but they couldn’t punch it in from there. Jimmy G. threw two incomplete passes, then was sacked by Lavonte David, forcing the 24 yard field goal that gave San Francisco a 30-20 lead with 9:03 to go. Needing two scores, the Bucs decided to settle for Gay’s 39 yard field goal with 4:16 left in the game. The San Francisco offense made a good effort at running out the clock, but was unable to close the game out, leaving it to the defense to preserve the victory. Tampa Bay got into field goal range, but that did no good since the Bucs needed a touchdown, and the game ended with Dee Ford’s first sack as a 49er. In his postgame meeting with the media, San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed disappointment that his defense allowed “a guy like Jameis Winston” to have such a prolific day (378 yards) and that 5 trips to the red zone only generated 1 touchdown.
Three rookie Niners recorded their first career sacks on opening day. Dre Greenlaw had two. Richard Sherman’s 80 yard pick-six gave the Niners a 17-10 halftime lead. Vernon Hargreaves III working hard on that bust label. Dee Ford closed out the game with his first sack with his new team. |

Re: Fool's Gold
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK THE FAB 5, WEEK 1 1. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (1-0) Defending champs are at the top of the heap until someone knock them off of it. 2. LOS ANGELES RAMS (1-0) Looking forward to Week 2 vs. New Orleans as much as anybody. 3. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (1-0) Isn’t it time to get over “the call”? 4. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (1-0) They’ve heard enough about how they should have lost to the Bears last January. 5. KANAS CITY CHIEFS (1-0) Win at Jacksonville was not all that impressive in view of the hype coming into the season. Cabo Catastrophe? Zeke Hurts Foot On 4th Carry Mere days after ending his holdout, Ezekiel Elliott sustained a foot injury on just his 4th carry in the Cowboys’ opening day victory over the Giants. Head coach Jason Garrett insists it was unrelated to Zeke’s time away from the team, saying that the injury is believed to be a stress fracture. The initial prognosis is that Elliott is going to miss 4-6 weeks, so Dallas will be finding out in a hurry if Jerry Jones’ faith in Tony Pollard was misplaced. Darnold Diagnosed With Mono, Will Miss Multiple Games Sam Darnold started feeling poorly on Sunday night and on Monday he received a preliminary diagnosis of strep throat. But on Tuesday, after further testing, the diagnosis was revised to mononucleosis. Because mono causes swelling of the spleen to the extent that playing football would risk a rupture, Darnold has been ruled out for Monday night’s game vs. the Browns, and it’s expected that the earliest he could return to action would be after the Jets’ Week 4 bye, but that is currently seen as overly optimistic. Trevor Siemian will get the Monday night start, and Luke Falk has been activated from the practice squad. Big Ben To Skip At Least One Practice After Early Opening Day Departure Ben Roethlisberger lasted 20 attempts into the Steelers’ Sunday night loss to the Patriots before having to exit due to tenderness in his throwing elbow. Mike Tomlin said that Big Ben is considered “day-to-day” with bursitis and will miss at least the first day of Pittsburgh’s week 2 preparations.
