Thanks for checking in man! Appreciate it! It will certainly be nice to have Dak in the playoffs this go around. Im glad to see that we are both having doing well in year 2 with similar success. Hopefully it can be a sign of things to come in real life next season haha

I also forgot to import a draft class haha so its cool to see the difference between the madden draft classes vs the real named ones! Good luck to you in the playoffs as well. Definitely will be watching.

Dallas Cowboys 2020 Season Stats

Quarterbacks

Dak Prescott is a winner…in the regular season. Prescott continues his regular season success as he led the Cowboys to their 3rd straight NFC title and a 14-2 record. The Cowboys were no doubt happy to have Prescott healthy for a whole season, a year removed from a tear in a leg muscle sidelined him from Week 12 onward, including playoffs. The 2019 version of Prescott was MVP caliber, through 12 weeks, Dak had 21 TD’s and just 3 interceptions. This year not so much…

Prescott had a solid year, he threw for just under 4,000 yards and notched 27 TD passes, more important he stayed healthy. Concerning though were the turnovers, which single handedly cost Dallas their two games (two losses, big deal!). BUT, when you finish with 15 interceptions thrown and another 9 fumbles, those numbers are very, very concerning. Thankfully for Dak, he has many a skill player around him, which may hide some of his more glaring defects.

Running Backs

It would be hard for anyone to replicate what Zeke Elliott did in the 2019 season, winning MVP, finishing with 2,080 rushing yards and another 450 receiving, but if anyone could it would be the man himself. Though he didn’t have as much success as last year, Zeke still led the league with 1,897 yards rushing. His 14 TD’s are second best in the league behind Todd Gurley of the Rams. There is no doubt the Cowboys would not be the team they would be without Zeke.

His backup, Peyton Barber, signed in the off-season (following what many though would be a career ending knee injury) carried the rock 49 times on the season for over 300 yards in a successful year as a backup. Both gave way to the youngster Tony Pollard in week 17, who in his only action in the backfield all season, ran for 86 yards and two scores.

Pollard had an excellent season on kick/punt return, returning two kickoffs for scores, including a walk-off score vs the Falcons, who defeated the Cowboys in last seasons playoffs.

Receiving

There was many a new face in the receiving core this season, tight ends Austin Hooper and Seth DeValve, along with wide outs Demaryius Thomas and Steven Ringer. Each of them had success in the 2020 season making Jerry Jones look like a genius, which is just what this team needs… Amari Cooper was Amari Cooper WHEN healthy, and when all combined the Cowboys had one of the best receiving cores in the league.

Austin Hooper led the way with just under 1,000 yards receiving, amazing that out of his team high 80 catches only one came in the end zone. Leading in that category would be Cooper, who hauled in 10 scores, even though he missed five weeks with an injury. Michael Gallup continues to prove he can be a solid secondary weapon, and Demaryius Thomas did an excellent job replacing Randall Cobb who bolted for Seattle in free agency.

Rookie Steven Ringer, the teams first round pick in 2020, battled injuries throughout the season but proved he can be a superstar with his Week 17 breakout performance (12 rec, 161 yards). While Cooper and Ringer were injured, four year vet Noah Brown filled in phenomenally, scoring three times in their absence.

Defense

The Dallas defense finished ranked 3rd overall for the 2020 season, just behind the Panthers and Patriots. The Cowboys led the NFL with eight fumbled forced and secured seven interceptions in 2020. There is no doubt the Cowboys have skill on all levels of the defense.

While not being able to reach his mark of 20.5 sacks from last year, DeMarcus Lawrence solidified a D-Line with his 15.5 sacks, along side him, second year DT Trysten Hill recorded a career high five sacks, after not recording a single one his rookie year.

Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith are two of the best young linebackers in the game and they finished 1-2 in tackles on the team, as they are literally all over the field. Vander Esch set a career high with 3.5 sacks, while Jaylon Smith recorded an interception for the second straight season.

In the secondary, Xavier Woods and Chidobe Awuzie led the way with two interceptions each. Newcomer Will Parks led Cowboy defensive backs with 83 tackles, a solid season for the free-agent signee. Who is with his 3rd team in two seasons.

Phil Rivers had a monster season for the Chargers in 2020, after a few seasons of what seemed like decline. The veteran signal caller shatters his previous high of TD's thrown (34) by nine as he finished with 43 on the year leading the NFL. Rivers also led the league in passing yardage while leading his team to a first round bye in the AFC.

It was more of the same when it comes to rushing yardage as once again it was Zeke Elliott leading the way, though he didn't topple the 2,000 yard mark like last season. Back in LA, it was Rams running back Todd Gurley II leading the way with 16 rushing scores, one short of his career high of 17.

Julian Edelman is another player who seemingly gets better with age as all Patriots do. Edelman set a career high in yards (1,471) and TD's (9). The former of which he led the league in. Emmanuel Sanders out of Denver is Mr. Consistent as he pops up in all three major WR categories, 93 rec (4th), 1,423 yards (2nd), 11 TD (5th).

Colts off-season acquisition Myles Jack led the league in tackles with 147, a career high. The fact that he did it with a former division rival has to bring tears to Jaguars fans eyes. Philadelphia Eagles rookie Jarius Reede had a monster rookie campaign, finishing 5th in tackles and tied for second with three forced fumbles.

Green Bay's Jaire Alexander stands alone at the top with five interceptions, while a pair of Falcons defensive backs, Isaiah Oliver and Desmond Trufant come on with four each.

Our very own Jaylon Smith led the NFL with four forced fumbles.

The first game on Sunday of Wildcard Weekend gave fans everything they wanted if Saturday wasn't enough for them. An intense rivalry matchup between the defending champion Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens would stun the defending champs in OT, as Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield absolutely battled it out through the air. The lack of run game for the Browns would ultimately do them in, as the 2020 AFC North Champs were bested at home by a team they were 1-game better than in the regular season.

The late session on Sunday afternoon provided just as much excitement as the earlier game. In Chicago too, we saw overtime, but this time the home team came out on top as the Bears defeated the Eagles. Mitchell Trubisky led the way with three total scores. Trubisky was injured for part of the game and backup QB Jake Rudock threw a 6 yd TD completion in his place.

In what could possibly be his final go at it, Tom Brady and the Patriots lost at home to the Chiefs on Saturday to open up Wildcard Weekend. The Chiefs would come out on fire in chilly Foxborough as they would jump out to a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter, thanks to two TD's from Patrick Mahomes. An interception in the 2nd half by Brady would be crucial in their loss, as the Chiefs would score on their next drive.

It was a defensive battle in Seattle, for the Panthers and Seahawks Wildcard matchup. When all was said and done, the 'Hawks would come out on top 20-17, thanks to a pair of 4th quarter FG's from kicker Jason Myers. Former Cowboy's wideout Randall Cobb hauled in three catches and a score in the teams win as well. The Seahawks will head to Dallas to face the Cowboys in the Divisional Round.

NFC Divisional Round
January 19, 2021 | Season 2
Dallas, Texas

Of the two Dallas losses this season, the second came on the road in rainy Seattle, 24-17. Now, just a few months later in the NFC Divisional round, Dallas got the better of Russell Wilson and Seattle, winning at home by the same score, 24-17.

Offense
  • The Seahawks elected to receive the kick to open up the game, but two plays in Russell Wilson would throw an interception, giving Dallas the ball on Seattle's 14 yard line.
  • The turnover would lead to 17 unanswered points from Dallas, who would score on their very first play, a 14 yard rush from Zeke Elliott.
  • In their loss to Seattle, Zeke carried the ball just 12 times for 68 yards, compared to 139 yards on 22 carries today.
  • During the 17-0 run, Dak Prescott and Austin Hooper linked up for the first of two scores between the duo.
  • Between the 2nd and 3rd quarter, Seattle would score 14 unanswered to come within three.
  • Tyler Lockett and Chris Carson were the only two players to score a TD for Seattle in the loss.
  • Down 24-14, Russell Wilson had a wide open D.K. Metcalf inside the red zone, however an errant throw and a tipped ball would lead to a Jaylon Smith interception.
  • Former Cowboy, Randall Cobb caught four passes for 56 yards.
  • Dak converted passes to a season low three receivers in the win (Hooper, Cooper, Thomas).
Defense
  • Dallas defense played very well in the playoff win, not allowing a score until the final minutes of the first half.
  • Xavier Woods and Jaylon Smith each recorded an interception in the win for Dallas.
  • The Dallas run defense had much better success vs Chris Carson (23 car, 63 yds, TD), then they did with Rashaad Penny, who ran for for 144 yards in the Week 7 Seattle win.
  • Seattle safety Marquise Blair laid a monster hit on Zeke and forced a fumble in which Seattle recovery early in the game.
  • Both teams allowed the opposition to convert over 50% of their 3rd down conversions.
Special Teams
  • Both kickers had a light workload in this Divisional round matchup. Both Jason Myers and Brett Maher converted their chip shot field goals.
Up Next
  • Dallas awaits the outcome of the Falcons/Bears game, teams they have played already this season. Stay tuned for a complete Divisional round recap.

Phil Rivers magical season came to a close Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens were all over the Chargers 35-21 in Los Angeles. Lamar Jackson was near perfect and had one of the best playoff games EVER for a QB. Jackson missed just two passes, and threw for 345 yards in the win, along with four scores. The Ravens took a 28-7 lead into the final quarter, and had a 35-14 lead at one point before Rivers ended the game with a score to Mike Williams. Baltimore will take on Indianpolis in the AFC Title game.

Falcons End Cowboys Season for Second Straight Year, Book Return Trip to Super Bowl
Dak Throws Four Interceptions in Loss, Dallas Falls Short for Second Straight Season

NFC Championship
January 26, 2019 | Season 2
Dallas, Texas

This one stings. For the second straight season the Cowboys have fallen to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship game. This certainly wasn't supposed to happen, not for the second straight year. Not with a healthy Dak at QB. But guess what...it did!

Offense
  • Dak Prescott was supposed to be the difference maker this year, as he missed the playoffs last season with an injury. However, Prescott struggled mightily throwing four interceptions and fumbling at the goal line in the loss.
