Super Bowl LV - Browns vs Bears

The Chicago Bears are your Super Bowl LV Champions after defeating the Cleveland Browns 31-21 in Tampa Bay.

Just like their first Super Bowl run in 1986, the Bears leaned on a strong defensive performance in the win. They held the Browns to just 39 yards rushing, didn’t allow a single red zone trip until the third quarter after a fumble in their own territory, and recorded 4 sacks.

The Browns went 0-for-5 on third down conversions in the first half, allowing Chicago to jump out to a 17-0 lead.

David Montgomery was named Super Bowl MVP after rushing for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The biggest question after the win is whether or not offensive coordinator Rob Roy will be sticking around. He will be on a lot of teams wish lists for their next head coach after turning a bottom dweller offense into one of the best in the NFL.

Pretty sure there is a bunch of college teams that would be willing to make Rob Roy the highest paid coach in college football too.

Congrats on your title....

The Falcons have cleaned house, firing GM Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn. Atlanta put together back-to-back 7-9 seasons followed by a disappointing 4-12 season in 2020.

It was a quick search as they agreed to terms with former Bears offensive coordinator Rob Roy not even a week after Chicago defeated the Browns in Super Bowl LV.

He becomes the 17th head coach in franchise history and will have the task of rebuilding this roster that features plenty of holes and aging superstars, as he will serve as the team’s general manager as well.

Roy will have to do what he can with limited cap space, as the Falcons head into free agency with just $9 million in cap room. A successful draft will be key in how his first season goes, with the Falcons holding the #4 overall pick in the 2021 draft.

“I want to thank Mr. Blank for this amazing opportunity,” said Roy in his introductory press conference. “This roster is loaded with talent but they just haven’t lived up to expectations. I plan on getting the best out of these guys moving forward.”

It was later found out that Roy has been a lifelong fan of the Falcons, so his connection and dedication should hopefully result in Atlanta returning as a Super Bowl contender.

2020 FREE AGENCY RECAP

With just $9 million in cap space the Atlanta Falcons decided to use that money wisely, filling holes in their offensive line.

They signed the best available center in Mike Pouncey to a 1-year deal worth $8.08 million. The former 1st round pick in 2010 spent his first seven seasons with the Miami Dolphins before playing for the Chargers for the past two years. He is the only center on the Falcons roster after Alex Mack announced his retirement.

That left Atlanta with just over a million left and they used that to sign left guard Marcus Keyes. The first year player out of Oklahoma State went undrafted in 2019 and moved around on practice squads before landing with the Falcons.

Re: A Coach’s Journey - Rob Roy

So because I created a new coach and advanced it didn’t give me the list of retired players. But I just wanted to announce that the GOAT Tom Brady has retired.
