Re: Bills Mafia - Madden 20 Franchise

The Buffalo Bills are ranked No. 26 in ESPN's preseason Football Power Index. Here's everything you need to know about the Bills heading into the 2019 NFL season:

The big question: Can Josh Allen put 'hero ball' days behind him?

The Bills want their young quarterback to opt for his check-downs and intermediate options over pushing the ball downfield this season. His ability to do so and take care of the ball is paramount to offensive success in 2019.

Offseason in a nutshell

A rebuilt offensive line (Mitch Morse, Quinton Spain, Ty Nsekhe, Cody Ford), a rebuilt receiver room (John Brown, Cole Beasley) and bolstered backfield (Frank Gore, Devin Singletary) give the Bills a new look in 2019. If Allen can take care of the ball and make smart decisions, this unit should be markedly improved from 2018.

Inside the Bills Schedule

Most important game: Week 17 against the New York Jets. These teams should fight for second place in the AFC East, and the season finale finishes what could be a season-defining stretch for Buffalo. Depending on the AFC wild-card situation, this could be a must-win for both teams.

Toughest stretch: Weeks 13-16. The first half of the Bills' schedule includes two games against teams who made the playoffs in 2018. But a stretch that starts with a trip to Dallas in Week 13, followed by games at home against Baltimore, at Pittsburgh and at New England could make or break Buffalo's season.

Over or under 7.2 wins? Over. Buffalo realistically could win six of its first eight. Factor in games against the Dolphins, Broncos and Jets in the second half of the season, and a nine-win season is more conceivable than a seven-win season.

Schedule ranking: No. 29

Buffalo has the easiest schedule in the league for the first two months, then a tougher-than-average schedule in the second half of the season. Five of the Bills' final eight games are on the road, including that difficult December stretch. But they also have a stretch of five home games out of six between Week 3 and Week 9. Like Miami, the Bills play the Jets and Giants at MetLife Stadium in consecutive weeks, but they do it to start the season, and their commute is close enough they don't have to stick around New Jersey for a week.

Breakout fantasy star: RB Devin Singletary

The Buffalo backfield might be crowded, but with LeSean McCoy being cut and Gore likely in his final season, there's no doubt Singletary is the future. The third-round rookie is on the small side, but he's extremely elusive, ranking among the top backs in this year's class in broken tackle and evaded tackle rates in 2018. Singletary's career might start slow, but it's possible he'll be Buffalo's lead back at some point during the 2019 season.

Bold prediction: Beasley finishes with a 100-catch season

The former Dallas Cowboy has averaged 3.1 receptions per game in his career after playing in a run-heavy offense with elite receiving options around him. But he'll be one of, if not the focal point of Buffalo's passing attack in 2019. He might not lead the league in receiving yards, but he can average the 6.3 receptions per game he needs to reach the 100-catch mark.

Final Record Prediction: 8-8

This Bills team has the potential to start the season very strong, but as we all know, the Bills will be the Bills. If they can gain momentum early, they may be able to squeeze out a 10 win season. But likely they'll end up near .500 in the end.

Pre-Season Recap

Game 1

Recap: The Bills defense was the highlight of this game. Picking off Brian Hoyer three times and bringing pressure on almost 40% of his snaps.

Offensively, Matt Barkley played a fantastic game. He only threw for 191 yards, but in the process tossed four touchdowns. TJ Yeldon looked solid, rushing for 98 yards on 19 carries. He also caught 3 balls for 10 yards and a TD.

Bills wideout Andre Roberts caught two redzone touchdowns to kick off the pre-season with a bang.

John Brown left the game after two plays with a bruised rib, but it doesn't seem it'll be a lengthy injury.

A big loss to the Bills is Devin Singletary who left the 2nd quarter with a knee injury. It didn't seem serious as he walked off on his own power, but it is alarming to see the young player hurt so early.

----------

Game 2

Recap: Josh Allen looked solid, playing three drives for the Bills. He was able to rack up 166 yards and a TD, completing 14/21 of his throws.

Rookie Will Grier had a nice outing for the Panthers, throwing for 190 yards and a TD.

Neither teams rushing game was anything to brag about. Frank Gore tallied 42 yards on 11 carries, and McCaffrey totaled 56 yards on 16 carries.

Buffalo TE Tyler Kroft, who missed the majority of the 2018 season with a foot injury, had a great outing. He caught 7 balls for 107 yards. This game should be a nice confidence boost for the young TE.

DE Jerry Hughes for the Bills was able to get to the QB twice in this one.

----------

Game 3

Recap: Josh Allen had another solid outing throwing for 173 yards and 1 TD. It is encouraging to see him take care of the ball all pre-season. He also had 47 yards rushing and a TD.

Gore was able to rack up 41 yards on 9 carries in a decent outing for the old back.

Cole Beasley had a breakout performance, with 8 grabs for 117 yards. He was unable to reach the endzone but did have 50 yards after catch.

----------

Game 4

Recap: The Bills took their only pre-season loss in this one against the Vikings. Neither team played particularly well, as it was mostly 2nd and 3rd stringers on the field. The first units only played the first drives and let the backups get some PT.

Matt Barkley started the pre-season with a 4 TD performance, and since then did not play very well. In this one, he threw for 183 yards and a TD, but also threw 2 INTs to go along with that stat line.

TJ Yeldon looked solid on the ground again, running for 73 yards on 20 carries. He's been quite effective in the receiving game as well.

Buffalo was missing running back Devin Singletary all pre-season to a knee injury, but they're hoping to return him by the opener against the Jets.
