2020 Offseason
The 2020 Offseason
Expansion Draft
Houston, TX - The expansion draft is in the books and the Oilers roster is beginning to take shape. The team selected from a pool of 5 eligible players per team and could select a maximum of three players from a team. The team also had to either choose 30 players, or fill 38% ($75.32M) of the 2020 salary cap, before it could finish the draft.
Free Agency
Newly Formed NFC South Beefs Up 2020 not only marks the return of the Oilers, but also a new look to the NFL. Four new divisions, the NFC North, NFC South, AFC North, and AFC South, mean that there will be four first-time conference champions this year. In the NFC South two teams have emerged as early favorites. The Bucs, which added future HOF'er Tom Brady, and the Falcons, made big signings to kickoff the 2020 Free Agency period.
Oilers Continue Build Follow its expansion draft, the Oilers have added another wave of players via Free Agency. Here's a look at each player signed during the period:

2020 Draft Recap
Draft Goes Virtual This year's draft marked two first, one being the inclusion of now 32 teams, the other being that it was conducted 100% virtually over the internet. A little disappointing for the would-be draft attendees, but the event ended up rather successful. Here's how the first 10 picks played out:
Oilers Wrap Up First Draft The NFL's newest franchise has wrapped up its third and final stage of team building with the conclusion of the 2020 NFL Draft. Many experts wrongly predicted that Joe Burrow would be the team's first ever pick. Instead, GM TMJOHNS18 and HC McDaneils went with the overall top player in the draft, EDGE rusher Chase Young. In round two, the team moved up to take QB Jalen Hurts out of Oklahoma. An interesting pick for the team as most would agree Hurts won't be NFL ready this upcoming season. The GM and HC both agreed that Hurts has all the traits you look for in an NFL QB.
What makes the pick even more interesting is that some scouts see Hurts as a more polished version of Tim Tebow, who Oilers HC Josh McDaniels famously moved up to take in the first round of the 2010 draft, when he was the Broncos head coach. He also noted that Tebow had all the traits you look for in an NFL player. Let's hope this pick plays out a little better for McDaniels this time around.
