After another unsuccessful 3-12-1 season, the Detroit Lions have fired Matt Patricia.

In his place, the team announced it hired a rookie head coach who more recently served as the head coach of Regis University.

Despite coaching on a level almost never paid attention to, Vandy earned himself a reputation as an offensive guru who deserved to move up the ranks.

Analysts around the league were quick to point out the hire was a heck of a stretch, though some added it appeared to be a move only the Lions would make.

With just months to prepare for the 2020 season and with new additions like Adrian Peterson to the backfield, Detroit's offense is expected to be one to be reckoned with, especially with Matthew Stafford can stay healthy.

"The NFL might underestimate me for now, but they won't be underestimating me for long and pretty soon, they won't be underestimating the Lions either. We're coming for everyone."

Vandy said during his introductory press conference. He then left the room without taking any questions.
