Coach Davis Carter has been named defensive coordinator of the utsa roadrunners. His career started out as a graduate assistant at the university of
Oregon under then coach chip Kelly. Carter Later moved on to serve as a scout for the New England patriots.

Heres what Coach Carter had to say in his interview. I'm thankful to be put in this
position everyone wanted to see my Super Bowl ring they welcomed me in this has all been a great experience

Here's our interview with him about the team at spring practice.

''I'd say I like the effort that was shown by our players. Pat Fields was named the
team captain he's developed into an outstanding and instinctual player. True Freshman bobby shaw will be our starting corner he managed to get 3 interceptions in 8 practices. Me and coach Carter talked about the scheme were going run and how everyone will fit in I think we can win more game this year than we did the previous.

The UTSA Roadrunners season starts with a loss. The road runners
were able to score early in the first quarter with a 1 yard run by Donny Nolan
the teams went into halftime with a 28 to 14 lead. The 3rd quarter the
roadrunners scored on a 28 yard field goal. During the fourth quarter the
roadrunners offense wasn't able to score any points. The lobos scored
3 times in the fourth. Lobos quarterback Clint Byers made plays and put
them in the redzone with 1:30 to go and the lobos scored off of a
dominick McNeal run. On the next drive the roadrunners just run couldn't
score before the game was over.

Defensive coordinator Davis Carter's comment on our interview were ''
I like the way we played today and the lobos put a drive together at
the end there and outscored us. We'll review film and get ready for our
next game.''

The UTSA roadrunners have shown their new athletic facility off.
Head Coach Jeff slayer stated that the coaches, players, and even the students
were excited. He also stated this may get some hs recruits more interested
in the school.

The UTSA roadrunners played Oklahoma st cowboys In their home opener

Oklahoma st got off to a quick start scoring on the first drive of the game.
the roadrunners scored after they received the ball on a 8 yard run by
Carlos Washington. Oklahoma st finished off the 1st quarter with another touchdown and a field goal. The second quarter the roadrunners drove the field and got a field goal with 2:16 left. Overall the defense made some stops and the cowboys scored on one drive before halftime. The roadrunners received the ball in the second half scoring on a donny Nolan 5 yard run. Both teams were unable to
score in the rest of the 3rd quarter. Oklahoma st scored two more times in the 4th quarter making their lead even bigger. The roadrunners scored a field goal with 2:04 left making the score 38- 20 Oklahoma st. Afterwards Oklahoma st
received the ball and ran the clock out.

Defensive Coordinator Davis Carters thoughts on the game. ''I liked the effort that the team practiced and prepared for the game. During the game there were some missed assignments and just lack of gap containment. We'll go over that in the film room. This is our first year together this is a new experience or me
and the players right now our offense ranks 45th in the country and our defense is 85th. If that ranking improved maybe we'll win''.
