Fire Those Cannons - NFLHC09 Career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2020 BUCS PREVIEW - BUCS HIRE A NEW HEAD COACH

After 20 years leading the New England Patriots, Tom Brady has left and has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! After not having any weapons in New England the last couple of years, Brady joined the Bucs to play with Ronald Jones, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Scotty Miller, and OJ Howard. The Bucs have also added Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette, Antonio Brown, and Tyler Johnson this offseason.

The Bucs also have one of the top young defenses in the NFL. The Bucs had the #1 run defense in the NFL and the 5th ranked defense in DVOA per Football Outsiders. Being led by star linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White, the Bucs also have Vita Vea anchoring the DL and good young cornerbacks in Carlton Davis, Jamel Dean, and Sean Murphy-Bunting. The Bucs also drafted free safety Antoine Winfield in the second round.

Due to the shortened offseason due to Covid-19, Bruce Arians has agreed to step down as the Head Coach and become the new playcaller on offense. He feels that this will be the best way to focus on helping Tom Brady and the new playmakers on offense adjust to the new system. Arians will be the new Assistant Head Coach and deal only with Tom Brady and the offense.

The Bucs have announced that Coach "KP" will become the new Head Coach. He was the Assistant Head Coach this last year and the head of analytics for the Bucs. He is a defensive minded coach that will work very closely with Todd Bowles in developing the defensive gameplan.

The Bucs should be a playoff team and compete with the Saints for the NFC South division crown.

Coach KP thoughts on preseason

Brady has done a good job of getting situated into the offense. All of the rookies did a great job this preseason. We came out of the preseason with no injuries and are looking forward to playing the Saints in 9 days.

Turning Point:
Missed Opportunities for Saints. The Saints missed a field goal on their opening drive. On their second drive, they marched down to the 4 yard line and Drew Brees threw an interception to Jordan Whitehead in the endzone. The Bucs made it out of the first quarter in a tied ballgame when it could have easily been a 10 point deficit.

Coach KP:

"I'm really proud of these guys! On defense, we really focused on linebacker and secondary play this week. We knew that we had to pick our points to blitz Brees. He gets rid of the ball so well, but our defense did a great job of keeping him in check. On offense, Brady and the passing game was in sync. We would love to get Scotty Miller more involved. With his game-wrecking speed, we need to get the ball in his hands. We will make sure we do so this next week. Overall though, getting 4 of the top 5 WR's and our top 2 TE's catches was great as we were successful in spreading the ball around. I was hoping to get Ronald Jones and the run game going more, but the Saints have a great defense. We will put more of an effort into getting the run game going this next week against Atlanta. Go Bucs!"
