Michigan State went into South Bend for a matchup with the 6th ranked fighting irish and came out on top 31 to 29. This one was a tale of two halves for the Spartans as the defense was playing lights out in the first half, taking a 24 to 9 lead into halftime. however the Irish turned the tide late in the game to bring it back to a one possession game. The Spartan defense then responded in turn by forcing 2 second half interceptions including the game sealing pick with 1:04 left to play. Your MSU Spartans dropped the ball today at Iowa losing 34-31 on a last second field goal. Scoring started early for Iowa taking a 14-3 lead after 1. MSU came surging back to retake the lead the lead 20-14 at halftime. From there scoring was even as both teams traded points to make it 31 all with a little over one minute to go. The Spartans defense stiffened up and Iowa was facing a 3rd and long with 14 seconds to go before completing a prayer to the 21 yard line setting up the game winner. Next up for your Spartans is the final stop in a 3 game road trip at Indiana.
Michigan State ended their three game road swing by dropping their second straight, this time 41 to 34 at the hands of Indiana. Once again questionshave arisen surrounding the defense as the run lanes were wide open for the Hoosiers. Many fans are looking forward to the next match versus SEC bottom dwellwer, Kentucky. One has to imagine this next one will be the most important of this MSU season.

However the second quarter was all MSU as they extended their lead to 31 to 6 at half. The statement was made when LB Harvey picked off a pass into the flats, taking it back 64 yards for 6. This marks the second game in a row with a defensive score. The questions we noticed several weeks ago still linger some as the Scarlet Knights found success in the air but the Spartan defense did what they had to in order to put this one away.
