Been checking this out silently but I've always been a fan of your writing since the Sonics Reborn Dynasty Second Coming you had on here years ago. This is looking good man.

Can't cough up a divisional game like that. Relieved to see you managed to hang on to that one.

^Much thanks! That Seattle one was a favorite of mine, so I'm glad it's still fondly remembered. I really like the way this one has played out so far.

Yeah, the sim nearly choked that game away -- I wouldn't have been happy losing to Kentucky.

Week 6 Recap
By Tricia Green

In Short: The Gators welcomed the Washington Huskies into The Swamp, the first in a home and home series with the PAC 12 native (Florida is scheduled to go to Washington next season), and the game wasn’t particularly close at all — Washington walked in and, on the first offensive snap they had, they promptly threw an INT. That would be the type of day the team would have as Florida allowed no touchdowns, only field goals, and the Huskies were embarrassed in every phase of the game.

Young QB Anthony Richardson had a field day against the Huskies defense, and finished the day throwing for 255 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT (29-31 — just filthy) and rushing for 122 yards and a TD. He had the best day of his career and showed, without a doubt, that he can be a passer as much as a runner … if given a non-SEC defense anyway.

MVP: QB Anthony Richardson. Just re-read that stat line and tell me he doesn’t deserve it — a performance or two like that against SEC competition and he could find himself in the Heisman conversation.

LVP: Everyone associated with the Huskies. The team didn’t show up and that, more than anything, was glaringly apparent throughout the slaughter that was this game.

Highlights:

Recruiting News

We finally have some commits! The coaching staff has been working all year, watching early leads fizzle as certain other school (ALABAMA) swoop in, dazzle a recruit with rings, get a signature, and swoop out. Saban and Alabama’s dominance in the recruiting scene makes life harder for a lot of school, but Florida did snag some important commits in DT Workman, TE Brown, HB Foster, and SS Jimmy King.

The Top 25

The Gators have reached #1 in the land, but their toughest SEC test this season awaits them in LSU — ruiner of some many things, the Tigers have their eyes set on the top-spot and a title and know they’ll need to go through Florida first before they face off against Alabama. Everyone’s eyes will be on The Swamp in the next game in Coach Flyer’s first, major, SEC test.

Always nice to get to number one. Not the easiest to hold on to.

Week 7 Recap
By Tricia Green

(Simmed Game)

In Short: The Gators welcomed the Tigers to The Swamp, but LSU wasn’t in the mood for niceties — the game was a tough, defensive, ugly affair where every possession felt a thousand times more important and LSU made fewer mistakes, which is why they won. The Tigers went up 10-0 before the Gators got on the board, but then LSU went on a long drive in the second to score another TD — putting them up 17-7 at the half.

The second half was a slog — Florida blew redzone opportunities, was blanked in the third quarter, and couldn’t get much going in the fourth as the Gators offense seemed out of sorts — and the Tigers defense seemed to know it. Florida’s time as #1 is over almost as soon as it began, and the Gators will have to be flawless the rest of the regular season to get a chance at the top spot again.

MVP: LSU Myles Brennan — an overlooked backup when Joe Burrow was there, Brennan has come into his own as a QB who can sometimes win a game and most of the time not lose it; his veteran presence is why the Tigers won the game — he didn’t panic or force the issue, he just played the game.

LVP: Coach Desmond Flyer. He’s the head coach, so a loss falls on him, but his playcalling — a responsibility he wanted and has exclusive control over — was questionable in the redzone. Florida left points on the field thanks to that playcalling and Flyer will need to learn that a defense the caliber of LSU won’t be as easy to fool as, say, Washington was last week.

Final Stats:

Recruiting News

Despite the big L taking in the Swamp, Florida did get some good news with the addition of WR Johnnie Daniels and ATH (and possible QB) Ryan Thompson.

The Top 25

Florida’s loss to LSU dropped them straight out of the top-4, and into the 6th spot — not bad considering — but they’ll have a heck of a climb back up as they’ll need other teams to lose or perform pretty badly.

Re: Orange and Blue Forever: A Florida Gators Dynasty

Yup. LSU will do that to you.

At least you did not sink too far. Season can still be salvaged.
