You know a sports video game is that good when...

When it makes you want to watch the sport in real life non stop. MLB 25 and I'd say CFB 25 this year have both done that for me. Never has Madden done this. NBA 2K have done this in the past but probably never going to again, but that's partly because I personally dislike the NBA on court product as a whole.

A sports video game is that good when....

And on the opposite end of that same ''you know a sports video game is that good when...'' spectrum:

You follow the real sport less because you don't want to stop playing The Show.
I consume Major League Baseball but I don't consume anywhere near as much because The Show is that good. And its been that way for me the last eleven years. I know what's going on IRL MLB, but not to the extent I did pre-2013. The Show really took off for me after that. Went from a diversion to a way of life.

And CFB25 was the same way for me. I watched less of the real season for the first time since, well, NCAAF14 was a thing.
    T-BONE.

    Talking about things nobody cares.

Agreed. I really enjoy playing the Show, and then watching my Braves play.

You also know a sports game is good when you thoroughly get your a** kicked, and cannot wait to play your next game. I lost a game 14-3 this morning, and absolutely cannot wait to play my next game. Absolutely love the ebbs and flows of baseball, and how well the Show replicates that.

        Figured I would chime in.

I have always been a huge baseball fan, but as my love for the Show has increased, my love of the sport has dispersed further from my love and knowledge of my hometown team, to a love and knowledge of the entire league. I have the MLB app, and while working or doing things at home I'll put any game on.

Also, you know a sports video game is good when 1) you think about your franchise when you're doing other things. And 2) the line between reality MLB and the show MLB becomes cloudy. Jose Ramirez is out for 3 months in my franchise and I actually thought he was hurt in real life the other day. LOL. I'm a dork.

The Show represents the sport better than the others I think……. I also think it’s harder to cheese the cpu which keeps the game engaging

I am a Reds fan and our teams are very similar so I understand your pain lol. I was saying just in general. I want to watch any game no matter what team and a lot of that I would attribute to me playing such an awesome baseball game that replicates the sport extremely well.

I've always loved baseball and football so the only videogame that made me like the sport more was Nba2k.Not so much anymore though and it's not as much because of the game as the Nba.

All of these make sense and you're not alone. I'll add, you know a game is good when you swear, as a Wisconsinite, you won't renew your MLB.TV subscription to watch your Reds games, because you just don't watch every single game, or enough games, to justify $150. But then, you say "take my money Amazon", and then you get offered FanDuel for the local Brewers, and you pay $100 for that, just so you don't have to deal with blackout restrictions. That's normal, right? Right!? Lol. Thank God I love the Packers.

You’ve bought a scaled down version on a handheld(switch) just so you can get more games in during the day.

P.S. cloud saves are a wonderful thing!!

For me personally this concept has always gone hand in hand with whatever sports game I play. Baseball especially! It’s hard for me to play a video game of a sport that I don’t really follow/ like in real life.

I want to love the sport the way I once did... but I'm not sure that can happen.

Junior made me a baseball fan. He was unlike anything Seattle sports ever had; he became the best player in the League [pre-steroid Barry Bonds]

Then Randy Johnson found the strike zone.. then Edgar became a doubles machine.. they had a *brutal* 1992... which put them in position to draft A-Rod.

All that talent.. they never won anything of significance... but then I could just switch over to TBS and the Braves. And I love that team and so many of those players just as much.

It was just a special time. I want it back so bad at this point of my life. No basketball team in Seattle. My true love of the NFL is really waning. I watch most every Mariner game, but the fire just isn't there, background noise alot of nights.

I will swing dramatically the other way if ownership doesn't shove all their chips to the middle at some point while they have this stockpile of elite young starting pitching. It would be the unforgivable sin. The team will be dead to me.

Same for me, in regards to Junior. He's the only reason I'm a Reds fan. Never been to Ohio, let alone Cincy. Just got tired or seeing Brewers talent get traded away, and when Griffey got traded to the Reds, I proclaimed myself a Reds fan instead of a Mariners fan, and actually started WATCHING baseball more, and the Reds just stuck. Had Jr. not torn up his hamstrings so much, his HR record would be asterisk free.

I died inside when Junior asked to be traded.

I think Gillick and Pinella could have convinced him to stay. But I also think they thought Alex had more long-term value, so they were content to go along.

The Ms should be eternally greatful Junior didn't break Aarons record.

In an 18 month window, they would have traded arguably the best LHP of all-time, and the HR King. They would be the laughingstock of all sports.

You know a sports video game is that good when...

You start browsing around equipment and looking at companies you didn't know. You start wondering who they are, what's their history, where they're from, etc.

First, you search 44 and read the About Us section and it ends with a picture of their equipment making it to The Show in 2019. They are proud of it, and I find it great.

After that, you search for the B45 company, and when entering the site, it's opening in french first (french speaking first guy, english is...well, you figured out if you read carefully my post lol) so it raised both eyebrows!

Then, reading, you discover that the warehouse is in your birth city, and the company, found in 2004, was bought by Éric Gagné in 2015. You learn that they are using yellow birch in their bats, produced in the "Belle Province", instead of ash or maple.

After that, you go buy 44 and B45 equipment and you made your RTTS players use it!

Don't tell me video games can't teach you anything!
