Well the one small place in Houston I thought I might have it didn't have it out yet. Maybe worth trying at Wal-Mart after midnight?Comment

Re: Getting the game early?!?
Oh, my bad. Was unaware i couldn't specify the name of the store.
Well, Paducah KY Big Chain Store, not in the mall but across the street from it, had it on the shelf. I didn't have any money on me to try and get it, so I'm not sure if it would ring up or not. Some others are posting, likely from the same chain store, that when they try it's not successfully ringing up. Might be worth a shot if in that area though...Comment

Re: Getting the game early?!?
Just got home and got mine from a big chain store. Went in with the story that was similar to what others have used on here. Told the dude that I called earlier and a manager said they would sell it to me when I arrived as long as it was in the case, it was (with no price). Explained before they got it to the register that they would have to override the system and use a generic code to ring me up, as per the manager I "spoke" to. Took 3 of them to figure out how to override the system, but the game is installing as I type this.Comment

Re: Getting the game early?!?
I said I was going to check around myself. Its unfortunate that we don't have any of those Mom and Pop stores in Atlanta. They used be Babbages before becoming Gamestop.
Good luck on tomorrow. PM your findings and I will do the same my friend.Comment

Re: Getting the game early?!?
I think a lot of it is pure dumb luck, but also how you approach the situation. I went to the electronics department of a major retailer. When I approached the guy to get my game, two of his colleagues were joking around with him that he was slow helping customers. I said "yeah man, what the hell, customers first! Gonna have to talk to your manager! Hahahaha". Said sarcastically as a joke. Got a good laugh out of it.
In any case, he went first for the PS3 version before I mentioned that I wanted it for the PS4. He seemed surprised that it was out, but he handed it to me anyway. Remember, not every employee knows the release date of every game. I figured my best chance was at the front at the self check-outs, which is where I went.
Nothing doing, the game wouldn't ring up. The guy up front couldn't figure out why, so I said that I'd go back to electronics and talk to the person back there. Which was where I found the guy who handed me the game.
"Oh, here's the problem", he told me. "This game does not come out until May 6th". "Aw, gee", I responded, as if I didn't know. "My cousin turns ten tomorrow, and he would really like this game". The clerk then told me, "Oh, it's cool, I'll override the system, and sell it to you".
So, he rung me up after some effort on his part. Being a Cub fan, I never count my chickens before they hatch. I certainly wasn't when the printer ran out of receipt paper. A receipt I wanted for nothing else but to get past security in the front. Finally, he changed it, and I had my game ready to go.
My wife was pissed though because of all the effort I put into it. She didn't understand that I just wanted to get out of the store. So I had to wait nervously as she decided to get a key copied. Eventually we got it done, I got home, and I had my game.
Moral of the story, just try your luck and be cool with the clerk. You never know. I guess it helps that I used to be a salesman, so I was able to butter the guy up. And now I got the game.Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!Comment

Re: Getting the game early?!?
I tried the big-box stores around me and none of them had it in the case either. Either somebody beat me to it or somebody knew the release date too well that works there. Lol. No mom-and-pop shops in Cincy. Looks like Tuesday it is. What's a couple more days right? :-)PC Specs:
i5 2500k
2GB Sapphire 6950
8 GB Kingston RAMComment

Re: Getting the game early?!?
No luck in South Jersey. Had 1 guy on the phone finally say they had it but couldn't find it in the system. No dice.
I've recently stopped trying (or telling myself id stop trying) to find games early; because when you DONT find it it makes those last couple days drag even worse.
