After posting above and playing a game, I again homered with Molina using a contact swing. Maybe posting helped, so I'll see what happens in the next game

Re: ALL of my home runs are with contact swing...

I have always just used the normal swing as in previous versions I found that the contact swing was out of whack and would check at times when I didn't want to. So I was a normal swing guy 98% of th time with the occassional power swing.

I have been like that this year as well until the PS4 version came out. PS3 I was hitting decently like I had always done, with my same sliders etc. PS4 came out and all of a sudden it was lazy fly ball after lazy fly ball with the odd dribbler thrown in. I was also late on almost every pitch. I play withj picth speed on default or even speed it up sometimes. I slowed it down a tad and still late and medicore contact at best. Hitting just hadn't felt right since the switch to PS4. My average only dipped slightly and the extra base hits only slightly as well. The feel just wasn't there.

So last night I tried the contact swing and what a difference! My timing has changed and I am back to being able to pull and go the opposite way.

My theory is that the speed of the swing is quicker with contact. At least that is how it feels to me.

That being said, I have yet to hit a HR with contact swing, but it has only been 2 games.

I hit a 430 ft home run with Freeman using the contact swing, lol.

Re: ALL of my home runs are with contact swing...

Most of my homeruns in my franchise come with the contact swing, That includes players ranging from K. Wong and Freddie Freeman. Most of the time when I use power swing I pop out and I only use power swing when I guess a pitch high. Power swing on guessing a pitch is rarely effective for me.

Contact swing is where I get at least 85-90 percent of my hits. Kind of frustrating because I am about to weed out normal and power swing all together. Yes, I think contact swing is too powerful. I'd like to see some bump given to normal swing at least. When I guess pitches and use normal swing I also get out.

Re: ALL of my home runs are with contact swing...

I don't have a lot of HR with contact swing - about 5 in my Marlins franchise (and, incidentally, none of them are from Stanton).

Ozuna has two of them. Greg Dobbs hit one about 410 feet with contact swing. Hechavarria has a couple.

Of course, Ozuna and Hechavarria are just insane (relative to their ability) in power for whatever reason. I still don't know how Hechavarria has 9 HR for me.

I don't know if it's "overpowered" or not (such as that word can exist in a sports game...I mean Jose Fernandez is pretty "overpowered" too), but I think there's been some sort of change. I don't think I hit a single contact swing HR in the 2+ seasons I was the Rays in MLB13 and I had some guys going off at the plate, too.

While I may have been "unlucky" in MLB13 and am "very lucky" in MLB14 - it's hard to believe there's been no changes. Maybe there's been no intentional changes, but, like someone else said, maybe there's some sort of mix of variables that can create the situation.

I don't use contact at all because I find it nearly impossible to strikeout with contact swing, it seems cheap to me. Anyone else seeing this too? I just made a house rule for myself no contact swing.

I always use normal swings, except when I'm 0-2, then I use contact or when I"m 3-0 or 3-1 I sometimes use use the power swing.
