How Long Until 1st Year Drafted Players' "True" Stats Appear?
I'd sorta expected to see how well I'd really drafted after I signed them to their contracts, but I still haven't seen any change in their potentials.

The potential you see when you are signing them is there actual potential. -
Re: How Long Until 1st Year Drafted Players' "True" Stats Appear?
Really? So the score you see in the signing screen is their "final" score (acknowledging, of course, that potential is dynamic now).
I'm 99% positive that the last two guys I drafted (two starters who I hadn't even "found" yet with my scouts, much less scouted, had mid-80s potentials on the 1st Year Player Draft screen) had the exact same Potentials in the signing screen as they did in the draft screen. I'm 100% positive that the first two guys I drafted - a Blue Chip CF and my well-scouted 1B - ended up with the exact same potential scores as well.
If that's the case, then what's the point of scouting? How do you end up with surprises in the draft?
I gotta be missing something, here.Comment

If you scout a player fully(full bar) ...that is their "starting" potential(rather than "actual" potential, if you will)
Will they remain that?
That is the surprise.(or not)
If you don't fully scout a player....you're really in for a surprise.(often not the good kind.)
But just because a player is scouted as an A or C....it doesn't necessarily mean it remains so. But that will come over time.
But I wouldn't mind if there were even draft day to opening day surprises...that would be very nice IMO.

Re: How Long Until 1st Year Drafted Players' "True" Stats Appear?
When I see his actual ratings? Let's try 60-something.
I don't know if "surprise" was the right word. Guess it was a negative surprise, but I sure didn't see that coming. This year in my Marlins franchise, my 3rd round pick was a SP that looked to have decent pitches (velocity/movement/control all plus-type tools). What does he start with?
27 Velocity, 48 Control, 67 Break.
I want them getting some development, seeing what they can do, etc.Last edited by KBLover; 07-27-2014, 06:37 PM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Yep - in MLB13, my 1st round pick was a lefty that scouted like Randy Johnson. He came in with an A...ended up as a B struggling to get out of AA two years later.
You guys must have better luck than me. Aforementioned Randy Johnson-esque lefty was fully scouted by a high-rated pitching scout. Velocity was in the 90's.

I'd be happy to have them just in my minors system even if I was locked from bringing them to the majors.

No....his potential and potential ratings are his "true" projected FUTURE ratings when he progresses.
His actual ratings are what he will be after drafted.
Depending on his breaks and training....that will determine whether he reaches those potentials....passes them....or falls short.

Re: How Long Until 1st Year Drafted Players' "True" Stats Appear?
I found a problem...kind of a glitch which eliminates the need to scout or makes you need a house rule.
Don't click if you don't want to know!!!!!!!!!!!!
SpoilerI'm not 100% sure this is correct, but I was 7/7 in a test franchise with HOU. If you don't scout a single person leading up to the draft you'll get a draft full of blue chips who are fully scouted and guys who have their bars completely empty. The guys with a completely empty bar actually show their correct potential/overall.
I was drafting in my Pirates franchise and I saw a SP with 95 OVR who had an empty bar in like the 4th/5th rd. I just took a stab and grabbed him. His POT showed at 95 after I draft him in the draft screen. I then take another SP with an empty bar and mid 80's POT. Well he was the same POT. Then I see a 64 POT 1B and he has his bar about 1/6 blue. His POT drops to 60.
Was this a coincidence? Nope as I did the test Astros franchise. I had #1 pick. I was able to snag a 75 OVR 87 POT guy with pick #1. His bar was empty and the OVR/POT stayed the same after I drafted him as did all 6 other guys I drafted. I even took a 47 POT guy and his POT stayed 47.
Empty bar = accurate OVR/POT & ratings are accurate
House rule = can't draft a guy with an empty bar
I'm going to get rid of one of those SP's I drafted, probably the 95 POT guy. It feels so cheap I hate it.

I did my draft this morning (thank god I didn't read it then...) I drafted about 4 guys who had no bars, one had 94 POT, others were pretty low other then an 82.. now that I remember, the 82/94 ended up having those numbers and my other guy was a 68 who was a 68 in my draft..... don't remember the fourth but thats a weird glitch.Last edited by NDAlum; 08-05-2014, 10:45 AM.Comment

SpoilerJust gotta use self control.
But I e-mailed Aaron and Luis last night to make sure they are aware of it for '15.
It's a weird one.

Re: How Long Until 1st Year Drafted Players' "True" Stats Appear?
Interesting - some of the guys I scouted with no bar were "None" ETA and 60-ish POT but as I scouted them, they shot up in potential and when I drafted them, their potential was what I scouted, not what the empty bar potential was.
Likewise, I've scout some of those empty bar 99s and the were no where close to that after full scouting.
Does this not apply to discovered players? Or is it that once you scout a guy (any player), the bug goes away? If this bug happened, wouldn't the potential stay the same/be similar, especially since I always invest in 90+ rated scouts?
Is this just on the PS4 version?"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
