Re: Your first game on MLB 15?

It was my first virtual baseball game since High Heat baseball 2003. I left the settings on whatever the default was for "experienced gamers" and got absolutely throttled. I spent an inning or two wondering why I was always throwing the ball to Home till I realized that each base corresponds to a different button . I figured you just point the stick in the direction you want and it goes there. I walked a ton of guys and it was several innings before I was on base.

But I had a load of fun. My friends were making fun of me behind me the entire time for sucking so much. Gave them the controller and they didn't do much better.

Can't wait to get decent at this game so I can't start a long franchise.

My first game was Cubs vs. Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. I lost 9-2. Mike Olt killed me in the game. 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a home run.

        Toronto v. Seattle in Toronto.

The lighting on the pitch is really pretty. Shows you a shadow on the underside of the ball and when the catcher throws it back. Nice touch. Lighting seems much brighter than last year for a June game.

Really like the pared down display when hitting although the loss of the L3 pitch history threw me off and the lack of the small black window showing timing/placement felt weird.

Went 10 innings. Dickey had a 1 hitter (HR to Austin Jackson) and King Felix had his way with the TOR lineup... until Smoak comes through with a solo HR in the 7th.

Seattle @ Minn. I was seattle, lost 4-2. I spent a ton of time in game tweaking sliders and settings to try and get the game to feel "right", not there yet. Biggest complaint so far is even with pitch speed on 10 the ball seems to float in very very slow, going to play game 2 now. Houston vs Mets ill be being Houston

My first game was the Padres vs Mets. I wanted to try out the Padres revamped lineup. After messing with settings/difficulties I beat the Mets 5-2.

Re: Your first game on MLB 15?

I decided to start a new tradition for my first game. I will always use my favorite team (Mets) vs. the previous years World Series winners in their home ballpark.

So my first game was Mets vs. Giants, Harvey vs. Bumgarner, in San Francisco.

First inning, 2 outs, no one on, and Captain Wright hit a solo home run into the bay for my first hit, and first home run in 15. I had a 3-1 lead from innings 3-5. Gave up a run in the 6th after a Murphy error, lead 3-2 going into the 8th. The Giants tied it 3-3 in the 8th after failing to complete the double play. But I had a 2 out rally in the top of the 9th scoring 2 runs to go up 5-3.

Bottom of the 9th, 1-2-3, Mejia Stomp!

                Harvey went 6.1 IP 6K 0BB 6H 2ER.
Wright went 2-5 w/ a HR and the go-ahead RBI in the 9th.

1-0. Was rewarded Jorge Soler at the end of the game for DD.

I didn't want to give in, but it just wasn't fun anymore because of the fast count. Even though it does speed up the game a lot, we were playing for like 2 hours at least and from being thrown off and having your players fatigue and tossing pitcher after pitcher in the bull pen was getting old fast.

But playing a normal game is just way too fun, and I'm getting ready to create a team in DD mode.

Re: Your first game on MLB 15?

My first game was Giants-Royals (obviously, right?). It looked like a pitcher's duel, although it really wasn't as neither Ventura or Bumgarner were really on. Bumgarner gave me 6 innings, gave up 3 hits and 1 run, struck out 6 and walked 2. Bottom of the 6th, Belt hits a solo homer just clearing the wall in right on a 1-2 contact swing as I was just trying to get a guy on. Was a shock to see it keep carrying. But that was enough. The bullpen managed to hold onto the one run lead, despite allowing more baserunners in just about every inning thereafter. Giants win 2-1.

Second game was Phillies-White Sox (me) and that Sox offense was on full display. 2 run shot from Flowers in the bottom of the 2nd, solo homer to dead center from LaRoche in the bottom of the 3rd, 2 run laser by Abreu in the bottom of the 5th, and a solo shot from Flowers in the 8th. White Sox cruise 6-1.

Great Thread... But my first game someone quit on me in the 3rd inning when I was only up 1-0. Kluber did strikeout the first 7 he faced.
