I have to disagree with the previous poster who replied to this. I'm not a Braves fan but I probably wouldn't be keeping players based on what fans think of them. Bethancourt might not be very good, Fried had TJS, Miller is ehhh, and Peterson is unlikely to be much of anything.

    1B Freeman
    2B Peraza
    3B ???
    SS Andrelton
    OF Markakis
    OF ???
    OF ???

Not exactly the best lineup. Pitching is fine with Teheran, Wisler, and Wood, but I'd probably deal the rest and fill out the rotation with guys like Fried and cheap value pick ups.

The best thing you could do right now is go BPA at every draft pick and in free agency, look for decent veterans that you can sign and then trade for profit at the trade deadline. On the trade market, look for players whose market value may be lower than their actual value. Peter Bourjos, Erasmo Ramirez, Allen Craig, Zach McAllister, TJ House, Chase Anderson, Randall Delgado, Brandon Maurer, Brad Miller, Rob Refsnyder/Jose Pirela are some guys who could outperform expectations but are a bit blocked and could be available. As well, take fliers on guys like Brandon Morrow and Josh Johnson like the Padres do, and hopefully sell them for profit.

Look for value everywhere you can.

Obviously a ZiPS comp doesn't mean Urias is going to be Randy Johnson, but again, everyone agrees that he's going to be extremely special.

All of this is moot considering the Dodgers have zero need for a shortstop. Seager will take Rollins' place next year, and Olivera will be at third. No reason to deviate from the plan and start handing over prospects with legit big league futures for the right to absorb a horrendous contract and one top ten prospect at a position they don't even need.
I would certainly disagree that the Dodgers don't care about Urias' dollar value.

      Kendrick is a UFA.

You're also minimizing the difference between the #2-3 prospect and the #10 by saying they're both top 10 prospects. Whatever, you're entitled to your own opinion. Jackson's contract is nothing for the Dodgers and Russell is immense value for them but whatever.

I wouldn't base my roster on fan opinion either, just giving some background/fun fact info haha. He said he knew nothing! Anyway, the organization is very high on Bethancourt and has been for a long time. As of today he is considered the answer at catcher. They also saw real opportunity in Fried, but I understand the injury concern atm. He's a high risk, high reward. Miller is indeed very ehh and Pederson may be a good utility guy to keep around for a while. Agree completely on your FA/trade method.

Looking at possibly starting a Nationals franchise, and I want to take advantage of the excess of SP. What do you guys think it would take to land Goldschmidt from the D-Backs? I know the trade would start with either J. Zimmerman or Strasburg, but from there, I'm not sure where to go to make it fair. Yes, Zimmerman and Strasburg are just about legit aces, but I know how incredibly valuable Goldy is. My thought process is Goldschmidt taking over at 1st, Zimmerman back to 3B, and Rendon back over to 2nd.

            Thoughts?

I'd say the package starts with Harper and nothing else if you want to keep it realistic. If you're just going for fair, it's Strasburg and not Zimmerman to build around since the latter is a FA heading into 2016. Strasburg has 2 more years of team control if I'm not mistaken

I also started one up with the Nationals!

Problem is I know nothing about Baseball, so its difficult for me to keep it "realistic".

Who on Washington is very unlikely to move?

Who is likely to be traded?

Which prospects are their "blue chippers".

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

From a prospect angle, this link lists the top 30 in the organization (http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=was). In the Nats case, the top 3 are your blue chips with some 'hope and pray' sprinkled in with Fedde and Solis.

The Nats are in 'win it all' mode so I would expect them to only make minor tweaks over the next 2-3 years and would not be shocked if they let J.Zimmerman pitch out the year and let him walk.

Hey guys for the life of me I can't find this one post I'm looking for. I spend about 30 minutes looking for the post I tried using the search forum feature that didn't help either. The post was in this thread and it was about how this guy did his franchises. I remember him mentioning something about how he uses a number generator to make trades for teams that are in contention. If anyone remember this post please respond. Thanks.

So, I have decided to start my 3rd franchise since launch (haha), and have my eyes FINALLY set on MIL.

Anyways, a couple questions and really could use some help:

1.) What would it cost (MIL) to acquire Garin Cecchini? I for sure want to acquire him to man 3B after Aramis retires. I'd also like to acquire another player who could step in immediately, or isn't far off. I like Brian Johnson a lot, but he could be steep. I like Travis Shaw or Travis Shaw if Johnson is in fact too difficult to trade for. Any idea on a matchup?

2.) Where could be a realistic destination to ship Braun off where I receive a young, cost-controlled 3B in return?

                            Thanks guys!

Why not combine what you're talking of and send Braun to Boston?

Braun and Garza for Cecchini, Johnson, Shaw, Victorino

Moving Victorino helps ease (not solve) the crowded OF situation and somewhat opens up RF for Braun. It also helps offset some money owed to Braun but Victorino is on an expiring deal so that's a win for you. Garza just to give the Sox extra motivation to swing the deal and get some extra depth to their rotation without getting an ace.

Probably not the most realistic deal to make prior to the season but it could work during the season. It'll give you some really nice payroll flexibility heading into the offseason so that you can chase hometown boy Jordan Zimmermann

Hell throw in in Jackie Bradley JR to MIL as well in this deal, gives the Brewers a great 4th OF glove with no stick under control for many years to possibly develop a bat. That makes sense even more for Boston to do so getting rid of two and getting one back. Solving it little by little. Fun deal though, I like the thought.
