No way to find out when a player is eligible for free agency?

And no I don't just mean when his contract is up. I mean when he can bypass arbitration and become a full on free agent.

Free agent eligibility is an important factor in today's MLB, especially for small budget teams looking to control costs. It also plays a big factor in a player's value.

Is there no way to find this information in franchise mode? Maybe tucked away in a menu somewhere?

Not that it really matters all that much, since the GM aspects in this game are so bare bones. Still would like to know though.

Ugh, looking into this, MLB's Free Agency Rules aren't exactly video game friendly.

Still would be good to see this factored into the game, with small market GMs trying to acquire controllable players more.

A player cannot become a free agent until they have 6+ years of service time in the MLB. After their 3rd year (unless they are considered in the Super 2) they are eligible for arbitration.

Super 2 means that a player is in the top 22% of players has at least 2 but less than 3 years of Major League Service.

If you need to determine how many years a player has go to their card (where you view their yearly stats) and you'll see MLB Service. This is years and days.

Ex: Yadier Molina MLB Service time is 11.091. That means he has 11 years and 91 days of MLB service time. He would be free agent when his contract is up due to his years of service.

However, teams have I believe its 5 days after the World Series concludes to re-sign their own free agents. If there is no deal reached between player and club after the 5 days then he becomes a free agent.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I had a feeling it would be something obvious that I completely missed. I was scrolling through the tabs, not seeing it, and there it was all along above the tabs.

Still seems like this should be a more prominent feature. Though as I noted, MLB and the Player's Union hasn't exactly helped out the video game industry with all the complexities of their agreement. Thinking of a way to get it all in a game makes your head spin.

There's also non-tender but you covered everything else.
BFR's future is still TBD, stay tuned for updates
