Quick count issue or game mechanics?

I'm well into August of my second season using drafted rosters and AS/AS hitting/pitching with now limited adjustments but I'm seeing what tabarnes19 mentioned very early in the release and that's the dearth of hitting.

Only 9 guys in both leagues total are hitting over .300. I've got Kyle Seager on my team in 3rd place for the batting title at .290. I've got 5 of the top 10 leaders in BBs: 1,2,3,5,10 (Freeman, Bryant, Springer, Yelich, Seager). Also DFL in pitching wrt walks given up by a fair margin. Also, 40% more DPs (112 to 87) than the team in 29th.

I realize that some of these things would be programming and some QC based. Why does hitting, other than pitcher potential and ratings, get beaten up so bad? Does pitching with QC lead to more walks given and received?
