Decided to retire the Yankees franchise and circled back to the Rockies. My strategy was the build within the draft and trade some valuable, but older players away. We were able to trade for younger arms such as Alex Reyes and Anderson Esponiza. The 2016 season ended with our record being 64-98 which was good for last place. I didn't intend for us to suck really bad, but that's how it turned out as we lost 20 more games during the 2017 season to give us a pitiful record of 48-114.

It was so bad, I didn't even want to play any of the games in the 2017 season. The silver lining was that we drafted pretty well and picked up a lot of young players in free agency who were drafted, then let go for whatever reason. We now have 6 decent/good young pitchers and a few good hitters developing in the minors. In fact, we'll see rookie pitchers Alex Reyes, Jordan Varckette, and Luke Bruno in the rotation for the 2018 season. I'm expecting that the Rockies will play better this season, but it could come crumbling down and we may end with another top 5; we shall see....

Playing around with fake numbers just for fun and big numbers to easier do and see the 17% changes:

1000 AB, 350 H, 70 K and 100 HR = .301 BABIP (and a historically bad pitcher). No walks just so K/PA and HR/PA would equal K/AB and HR/AB for quickie.

Applying the 17% increase to K and decrease to HR (82 K and 83 HR) put BABIP allowed up to .320. Have to get this down to .284 (17 points lower).

I had to lower H to 320. That's about a 9% drop.

I wondered what I'd get if I just applied these to an imaginary player that had 60's in all his /9 ratings.

H/9: 60 * 1.09 (the 9% drop, which means better H/9) = 65
HR/9: 60 * 1.17 (17% drop, better HR/9) = 70
BB/9: 60 = 60 (no change)
K/9: 60 * 1.17 = 70

Does that look reasonable?

Then apply a little bit to Velocity (and probably Velocity + Movement for breaking balls?), but nothing to Control.

Only thing is, it might get silly with guys with high ratings - but I guess who's moving those guys from the rotation?! (Though, I guess if they had borderline 50-60 STA...though you could argue those ARE relievers pressed into SP roles, so maybe their ratings should get the reverse...?)

Yeah, not to derail the thread too much, but that's pretty much my thinking. The difficult part is converting the 17% change in stats to a corresponding change in ratings. Knight has a worksheet that we used to use for OSFM that had helped translate ratings to actual stats.

For example, say you have a guy with 72 H/9 and his BABIP is .320. 17% drop in BABIP doesn't necessarily correspond with a 17% increase in the H/9 rating.

I know there are threads out there where this has been discussed before, if you want to continue the conversation (and I'd be happy to), let me know and I'll try to find one of those threads.

Started over my Rangers Franchise...Got absolutely pwned by King Felix and lost 9-1...Only run for Texas came off a Solo shot by Rougned Odor...

My non scientific way of making a SP a RP or if you follow it the opposite way making a RP a SP.

-40 Stamina
+ 10 Velocity to #1 pitch
+ 5 Velocity to #2 pitch
+ 5 Velocity to #3 pitch
+ 10 H/9
+ 10 K/9

I'm at the all star break on July 11 in my Yankees Franchise. We have gone 7-3 since July 1st which was when I last updated. We are now 52-36 on the season and are in first place in the east! Unfortuantly only by half a game though. The Blue Jays are right behind us and the Red Sox are 4.0 games behind us. Baltimore is 13 games behind us and Tampa is 20 games behind us. Since July 1st we have swept the Padres in San Diego in a 3 game set and then split a 4 game series with the White Sox in Chicago. After those 2 series we headed into the break by taking 2 out of 3 from the Indians on the road. Not bad at all. We had A-Rod representing us in the home run derby but lost in the semi finals. It ended up coming down to Nelson Cruz Vs Joey Votto and Votto won 19-18.

The All Star game is Cole Hamels Vs Jon Lester. We have no representatives on the pitching side of things The only Yankee in the all star game in Brian McCann as the starting C. David Ortiz made the all star game but only as a bench player. Trevor Story made his first all star game as the national leagues starting SS.

I'll probaly update again after the all star game.

Well I have made a very tough decision I have decided to restart my Astros franchise. I just dont like the fact that I have inflated stats and my record being absurdly good.

I will be starting with the new OSFM roster and I will be creating the Astros first round prospects as well as their international signings (I wont use them until they all officially joined the team)

I will be posting here once I get everything setup, once again starting with Opening Day rosters and rolling with real injuries (For my team).

Out of curiosity is there any reason to do 30 team control other than having more control over roster movement?

I remember reading a while back that if you dont do 30 team control that GM Contracts get enabled when you carry over your save is this true?

In a back and forth game, the Red Sox outlasted the White Sox 10-8. In the bottom of the 1st, Betts gave Boston a 1-0 lead with a solo HR over the Monster off of Carlos Rodon. The Red Sox tacked on another run in the 2nd thanks to a Jackie Bradley sac fly. Price cruised through the first 5 for Boston, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 8. In the 6th, Chicago's bats came alive, scoring 6 runs with the big blow from a Todd Frazier 3 run HR. At that point it was 6-3 Chicago. Boston responded with 2 in the bottom half thanks to a Jackie Bradley 2 run BOMB to right. In the top of the 7th Chicago scored 2 more, off of another Frazier HR. In the bottom of the 7th, the Red Sox refused to go down quietly. Ramirez, Young, and Shaw all singled and brought Rutdledge to the plate, filling in for Pedroia who is day to day with a sprained ankle. Rutledge chased a 3-2 dirtball and it was up to the struggling Blake Swihart, who after a long battle of following off several tough pitches proceeded to line one over the Monster for a grand slam that gave the Red Sox a 10-8 lead. Tazawa escaped a 2 on 1 out jam in the 8th, and Kimbrel retired the White Sox in order in the 9th to close it out. The two Sox continue the 4 game series with Jose Quintana set to face Clay Buchholz.
Side note: Xander Bogaerts returns in 9 days after a 2 month absence following a broken collarbone. His return will create a bit of a log jam, with Holt and Rutledge both playing SS in his absence and both producing. Holt will likely receive the majority of starts in LF but Young and Castillo have been productive and it will be tough to decrease their at bats but Bogaerts will surely be welcomed

Finally made it to playoffs in season one! Finished the season 92-70, but got the wildcard as the Blue Jays dominated the AL East going 101-61.

Played the Indians at Fenway for the one game playoff.

David Price vs Corey Kluber, Indians take an early 2-0 lead in the 4th inning, Price buckles down and goes 7 strong. In the bottom of the fifth, Travis Shaw hits a solo home run for only the second hit of Boston.

2-1 CLE remains until bottom of the 7th, Pedrioa hits a lead off double, Bogaerts bunts him to third, Ortiz with 1 oit runner on 3rd strikes out!!!! Luckily, Hanley Rameriez hammers a 2-0 count up the middle to tie the game up.

With Ramierz on 1st, Travis Shaw murders a ball for his second home run of the game making it 4-2!

Kimbrel comes on top of the 9th and starts off with a strikeout, goes to a hit batter, strikes out next batter, and finished with a ground out to short.

Redsox advance to the divison series in a wonderful wildcard game!! Next up is the Toronto Bluejays.

Red Sox Bats Stay Hot
The Red Sox continue to swing hot bats as the offense leads them to a 9-5 win over the White Sox. Buchholz allowed a solo HR to Abreau in the 1st then coasted through the next 5 before allowing 4 in the 7th. Chris Young had 2 HRs and 5 RBIs on the night, and JBJ homered (and bat flipped) for the second night in a row. Later Holt added his 1st of the year. Kimbrel made it interesting in the 9th, with bases loaded and 1 out for Frazier who hit into a double play to end it. The Red Sox go for the series win in the finale as Eduardo Rodriguez (8-2, 3.01) looks to stay hot against a struggling Mat Latos (2-5, 4.66).

Good luck in the ALDS! Watch out for that offense, will be tough to contain for a whole series. Right now I am in the last week of June so the playoffs are still a long way away from me lol but i hope to reach there soon. Let us know how you made out

Question? How many homerun does ARod have so far? I'm a few games away from the all star break and it's like I have prime ARod.. 326/30/87... I'm using Armords sliders and playing on hall of fame. I play every inning of every game.
