I use quick counts, and have exclusively since it became a feature in the show a couple seasons ago. I love how many games it allows me to play in any given time period, and I love that it's given me much more realistic walk and obp numbers in my franchises.
However, with that said, I also feel like maybe I'm missing something by having it turned on. Minus the extra 15-30 minutes it's gonna take to complete a game, and getting some one pitch outs, for those of you who do not use quick counts, what would you say to someone if you were trying to get another person to see the advantages of not using it and to switch over?
I strayed away from toggling it off because I kept finding in years past that the first pitch of the at-bat was always something right over the heart of the plate, and obviously I wanted to swing at it cause who wouldn't want to swing at a meat ball on the first pitch and get behind in the count?! I'm 50 games in to my Dodgers franchise sitting at 30-20 with middle of the pack team average, 1st or 2nd in home runs, middle of the pack in walks and obp...basically: the numbers are working out pretty realistically it seems.
But I do find myself with the bases loaded quite often and then suddenly the guy who comes to the plate next has an 0-2 count to start and that gets pretty frustrating, especially if the bases got loaded due to a couple walks.
Any advice, what you use and why you love it, etc, would be much appreciated.
I know the old "use what feels best to you" but I'm not sure what feels best to me anymore and am wondering if there's a better alternative in the community
Thanks
