Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
Yea, so I struggled with this part also. The post processing stuff is normally not good and such, but in this instance, with it off or low, the brightness was too low as in dark. high was blown out and losing the detail and HDR did not seem right. With it the way I have it now, I see a much better spectrum. I am not huge into calibration, I just need the picture to look good.Comment

I disagree. I have spent hours fiddling with everything on this forum to make the KS8000 look good with HDR and the only way it looks good is when dynamic contrast is set to high. The biggest thing that makes me say this is that the MLB Network score box is dull and washed out when dynamic contrast is off and looks natural when it's set to high.

It does say in the Boost Mode description to turn it off if there are any irregularities in games you play.
I haven't had any issues since boost mode was introduced in 4.50, Last night I had some weird hitches in RTTS, and I turned off boost mode and restarted the Pro. Gameplay seemed smoother after that but it could be placebo.
Personally, I am just gonna turn it off when I play The Show. It is so easy to turn off and on, takes 4 seconds, no harm in turning it off for a Pro Mode game. Probably no harm in leaving it on either."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Yea, that might be too big of a change for me. It seems really dark when I do that, could be my eyes. But I do agree that when making these changes you need to play a little after and allow yourself to get adjusted to it. I put in another game after my changes and it was like night and day.Comment

Most people are used to the "Samsung" picture. Which in most cases is too bright and washed out. It's gotten better last year or two, but that's my opinion. When you look at a good set, your eyes start to process what is perceived as real. Look at a OLED or QLED, and you'll see what I mean. They have to darker offset and wider range that helps that more "real" look be achieved. My girlfriend never saw what I saw until she gave it a little time to adjust and now can tell the difference between sets.
Just my opinion on this one.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
Samsung KS8000:
Backlight:20
Brightness:40
Contrast:100
Sharpness:10
Color:70
Smart Led:High
HDMI Black Level: Auto?
Dynamic contrast: High (seriously looks really bad off) (the mlb network score box is all dimmed out to along with the picture)
Color tone:standard
Color space: Auto or Native?
I don't know I have tried everything to make it look good with dynamic contrast off but it's just not happening. Needs to be high to make it look bright. The thing that really gives it away that something is off is that score box changing drastically when dynamic is off. So washed out.Comment

Found this on same site I linked to. Worth a try!?
Also, are you running through a receiver?
Does the Samsung KS8000 do game mode and HDR content?
Yes it does. For best experience, select the 'Game' special viewing mode and set the backlight to max. Set 'Smart LED' to 'High' and 'Color Space' to 'Native'. This results in an input lag of 22.6ms.

That's fine you disagree but you're wrong. Did you read what I said? I was talking about brightness set over 45 is no good and brightness set under 45 and your getting black crush because the person had brightness at 60 which was overboard. Dynamic contrast is artificial processing and it doesn't make things look better. Well, maybe to you it does but no professional calibrators ever uses it. To me HDR looks fine just how I have it. There are many who like watching their content in torch mode (Dynamic mode). That doesn't mean it's a natural looking picture or better. Some people just like everything extra saturated and they see a more colorful picture and assume it's better.
I personally don't use dynamic contrast, but if it looks better to you that way that's your choice. You'll also never catch knowledgeable people on AVSforums recommending dynamic contrast either. Also, I wouldn't worry about how the MLB logo looks. I'm more concerned with everything else on the screen.

On paper it shouldn't. It is a new feature and glitches/bugs are possible though

I'll probably just shut it off tonight. I don't see playing any games not getting the pro treatment moving forward anyways. Thanks for the info.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro
Looking through the recent posts I don't see my set so I thought I would add to the chatter...
I have an LG OLED65B6P, and have gotten great results on my PS4 Pro. I'm using the latest LG firmware which introduced the new "Game" mode. I've finally settled on "Enhanced Visuals" with HDR Mode On which seems to be the sweet spot for me. I may try sliding the HDR slider up a bit, but right now everything looks great.
Anyone else using this TV?Comment
