    Still the $1,000,000 question.

I'm pretty much willing to call it a done deal. I feel like if it was proper downsampling there wouldn't be a question, guys would be talking about the cleaned up jaggies/shimmering.

It's cool, no big deal. HFR mode will be awesome for 1080p guys.

It does make me wonder though. This is just the second game post-Pro release that won't let you downsample from a 1440p or higher image.

        but you also said this:

When i try and change to enhanced or 4k it just says no HDMI 2.2 was detected.
this is what i believe why your display is not downsampling. other posters are getting both options without this scenario happening.

Believe me Jare, I've been wondering about this from the very beginning like you. I just think it is strange that somebody...ANYBODY like Russell etc. would not set the record straight on this one. It is a very legitimate question/concern that many have.

If there is in fact no downsampling benefits from the OG PS4 to the Pro, that's fine...just tell us that. Not responding just leads to suspicion...lol.

I, like you, am happy with the increased framerate...if that is in fact any different between PS4's. It is still the best baseball game ever made IMO.

When Naughty Dog gave 1080p displays 1800p downsampling in TLOU:R, which was awesome, and then randomly patched it out of the game a week later, there was a rumor that a future firmware would basically enable operating system-side forced downsampling for all games at 1080p. There was also a conspiracy theory that it was a move pushed by Sony to sell more 4k TVs, but that seems silly since both inFamous and Ratchet and Clank had awesome down-sampling options.

It would have been cool to get a crisp downsampled image, even if you had to forfeit the HFR boost to enjoy it, but oh well. I would be curious to know why SDS made this design choice, just for the sake of understanding the development process. Maybe they just didn't have time to program that kind of functionality and HFR mode was the better choice

Oh, is that the thing I read about awhile ago that tricks the PS4 into thinking its on a 4k display, basically forcing downsampling in every game?

exactly. but im not sure if its work. IF we could rig a hdmi cable to this box then rig it to the ps4 as a 2.2 complaint hdmi source MAYBE just MAYBE its bypass that protection of 2.2?
