Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Sounds like we're coming to a consensus on Trout which, even if it took a couple extra posts, is a good thing for the rest of the season. Why is that good? Because there are 100's of people that read this thread that never comment. Why they are interested in what us goofballs have to say, I can't tell you (other than entertainment value). When you ask about a player, the answer that comes back usually comes in a generic form so that others can use similar trades in their franchise. That way, we're not only helping the poster enjoy the game but others as well. I think we can safely say that there is no trade (this year) that we can come up with for Trout. If I were looking to rip off the Angels I wouldnt have even asked. I dont need permission so why would I ask to rip off a team. The point is that I dont want to rip off teams. Just like I never made the Yelich trade we talked so much about. Would I have loved to have Yelich sure but I couldnt do it because of the thread so dont act like you know why i asked because you are misinformed obviously. Also the Mariners were a WINNING team without Griffey so why would they try to start to rebuild early. Those are two completely different team situations. The Mariners had young up and coming talent to help them win while the Angels like I said are in the bottom of the league in Roster, Farm System and bad contracts.
Moving on to the Angels (with Trout). I recognize and appreciate what you are saying about the franchise but I think what you're missing is that they are a bat and a bullpen piece away from being the O's and competing for the playoffs in a much weaker division. You know as well as I do that baseball is a fickle game and while talent counts, even the most die hard Cubs fan will admit, it takes a little luck to win a championship. The best Vegas guys can't project what will happen next year, let alone 3-4 years from now. With 4/120 left on the best player in baseball, you don't think the Angels won't try to put together a playoff team? The reason their farm stinks is the same reason the O's farm stinks, they are trying to win now. Just because you fail one year doesn't mean you blow up and start again. Sometimes less is more. I'm eager to move on (as I would expect others are as well) but my PM's are open to any and all that want to talk baseball, regardless of the player/team.
Now... anybody want a loggy out of the pen? 4th OF with a glove, utility IF...anything other than a superstar? Let's make a deal!"for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Blackmon is in the 1 high B and 1 mid B (perhaps a throw in from each side to make up any additional value in a sellers market) range if you're looking for arms (I always value pitching less that position players). Last year you could've look for an A POT but with only 1 year of arb left (projecting somewhere around $10-12) and then he hits the open market with all the other studs (see: Machado and Harper), it hurts his value slightly."for love of the game" - B. Maybe Sheffield and Fowler, or Rutherford if NY is desperate.Blackmon is in the 1 high B and 1 mid B (perhaps a throw in from each side to make up any additional value in a sellers market) range if you're looking for arms (I always value pitching less that position players). Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah I agree. I would have to guess they would force you to take Gardner or Holiday otherwise they have no room for Blackmon. If you took Holiday they could move Judge to DH but otherwise they would have Judge, Gardner or Ellsbury coming off the bench which would not happen. Blackmon has a surplus of 50million which you could take back Gardner, Sheffield and FowlerBlackmon is in the 1 high B and 1 mid B (perhaps a throw in from each side to make up any additional value in a sellers market) range if you're looking for arms (I always value pitching less that position players). Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Then you would be good. you could get Kap and Sheffield if you go off of surplus. But if you go by the direction the Yankees are going then they are not in win now mode but just depends on what you are going for.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
As the Mets, I am looking to replace Wright long term at 3rd. I realize that Wright is unreadable due to contract/injuries and plan to let him finish out his contract as a bench player (or more realistically on the DL).
I want to clear up the log jam in the OF by dealing one, or more, of the following: Bruce, Granderson, Largares and/or Cespedes (yes even him).
Given his age and history I may have to release Reyes, but wish to trade him off if possible.
Harvey is also available. I'd rather hold on to my prospects, but am willing to let go for the right deal.Comment
