    Former Player Photos (Rejoining Team)

Maybe this is old news (which is embarrassing if so as I've never noticed) or even recent news I just didn't see but I noticed this when playing through my Franchise today. I picked up Kinsler in FA with my Rangers to play an everyday UTIL/OF/DH role. First game of Spring Training, I'm looking at the Scoreboard and see a picture of Kinsler from around four years ago:

Here is his current picture as a player for the Tigers:

I tested it with a few other players (which again, embarrassing if this is common knowledge that I've somehow never seen)

    Troy Tulowitzki

    Jonathan Lucroy

I'm not sure how far back the pictures go or how many players have them. I tried checking out Pujols in a STL reunion and the picture wasn't there. However, I tried Carlos Gomez with the Brewers (two teams ago) and here we are:

Anyways, I just thought this was really cool and wasn't sure how well known of a minor feature it was. It's pretty cool bringing a former player back and seeing their picture on the screen as opposed to a cartooned face.

The pictures go back a few years I think. I just noticed it in last year's game. I picked up Trumbo and Kendrys Morales in my Angels franchise and they had their old Angels pictures.

I figured it probably wasn't new. I'm not surprised I didn't see it though as I don't think I brought any former players back to whatever team I was managing in 2016.

        That's awesome!

I guess because there's season transfer each year the game has to be able to carry information/portraits so that the game can recognize it.

I always do this for my own personal roster, because I prefer the having players have a photo, during a real season trying to keep up with that when players get traded they lose there photo unless they played there in the last 3 years. To me doing what i call PHOTO roster just looks better and with this years new presentation everything would blend it so much better. It's not for everyone and it's not ideal but as for presentation look of things it would look incredible. I use to love watching the next 3 batters due up and have all 3 photos matching up instead of photo guy blank with no photo, rookie etc then you have another photo guy just a personal preference but I prefer all 3 photos of of the next 3 up.

Now the players photos go back anywhere form 2-3 years. Like I said i always like doing this and putting those guys in free agents as well on there previous teams this way everyone gets used and there not just sitting there in free agency.

It would be great if they could somehow do whatever it is ESPN does to switch out players' caps whenever they change teams while keeping the old photo.

Trust me this has been in a wish list by many for a few years now. I asked in my 2017 wish list if they could some how link these players to mlb.com, ESPN or even Foxsports so when a player gets traded in real life and we make that move in our franchise or roster file they get there photo updated.

The thing they did this year in the main menu was gave the players a player cards but in game you still get the photo of a player like previous games on the jumbo tron etc. I t would be nice if they link the player ids up to a website like ESPN so when a player does get moved in real life we get that change immediately.

I don't work in game design so far be it for me to say this would be simple. But it would be nice if they had players take a seat after facescans to take a picture with a blank hat and jersey on a greenscreen in which uniforms/hats could be transposed onto those players for whichever team they join.

That might violate some MLB rules though.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Yeah they started this when they made the change, to when a player left a team they turned into a cartoon photo. but if that player had history with the other team it would be in the history.

the way it used to be was if a trade happened you would see a Ichiro at the yankees still with a Seattle cap on.

Think it was 2014 this came in
