Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?

As I get older and have less time to play, I don't have time to be bored playing any game. That's why I enjoy this game. It gives you so many ways to play,I can always find something to do based on how much time I have available when I sit down.

Ya it gets boring because of the announcers. I liked last year they mixed it up but still Matt Versergen is getting really boring. Maybe they should do something like 2K and Madden did and hire actors to do the announcing.

The only reason I did not get bored in 17 was I started doing DD for the first time ever. Since it was a new mode it kept my interested but it was limited since I only did the missions that required vs CPU play. Now if they are saying in 18 you can do all of DD Offline then I will probably be not too bored and maybe just do this rather than franchise or season.

And with RTTS getting an overhaul, I may try that mode this year too.

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?

I don't get bored of it at all though in the middle stages of the games year, I took a couple of months off but got back into it and have been playing as much as I can. I love baseball, makes a great video game. I look past the things like announcing because I don't pay a lot of attention to it and focus on the game I'm playing.

I mostly play the diamond dynasty offline and play to accomplish missions and collect as many players as possible so that keeps me very interested. I don't play online because of all the win at all costs that players do now and it just becomes a game of playing vs the exploit and not the game but this year they said they've tried to fix it so that will be interesting.

I dabble in RTTS though I'll admit, I haven't played as much of this mode as I have in the past. I love the game, enjoy it completely and have certainly got my money's worth. I will in the next one as I preordered the first day I could. So looking forward to it

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?

I've been saying this for years. The Show is presented to people who've never played. It's not until you've played about a month of games that you realise how canned and recycled the game is. I can call the dialogue lines from about 30 seconds away and then recite them word for word. When I see a certain cut, I know what shot is coming next, when I hit a homerun I know exactly the sequence of shots including the creepy closeup of the coach looking one way with his eyeballs unnaturaly going the other way, which by the way in MLB 16 was an exact reverse of the one they had used in MLB 15. Same look, same head tilt, eyes going in the other direction.
Every game post-2010 that obsessed with animations for TV style presentation became repetitive and monotonous. I much prefer the older games where players have no "personality" other than happy or frustrated at the game they're involved in and where the games refrain from serving you realistic "human" reactions.
So, I'm not bored of the game itself, but the experience of playing the game drags because of all the useless in betweens. The biggest killer for The Show though, is the commentary.

I used to play the game year round, the past couple of years however I have gotten bored by June, the staleness and non updates to Franchise mode have made it that way, and its my boredom of why I am still on the fence about buying the game this year.

I don't get bored because I play EVERY SINGLE game of the season so I get to check out every single stadium play with different teams and players. and I take every at bat and swap controllers every innings and then I know all the stats were created by me.

Now if I used the same team and just played it that way only use 1 team then maybe I would get bored after a while.

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?

I wouldn’t say it’s boring.. but my interest goes out the door for a couple reasons..

I wait too long to start a franchise waiting for OSFM vX (always want the newest)

Franchise improvements are minimal and haven’t hooked me in quite some time.

Interleague schedules.. this is probably #1 as weird as it may be. I just cannot stand not switching up my opponents in a franchise. This should be priority #1 for them to fix.

Other than that.. already preordered and ready to dig in and enjoy the greatness that is The Show.

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?

I get bored with The Show much less than other games. I'm not into gaming like I was 15 years ago, 10 years ago, even 5 years ago.

I have The Witcher 3 and Final Fantasy XV on my PS4, but have hardly ever touched them; maybe a few hours each. I rarely play any PC games anymore, though I may pick up Far Cry 5 when it is on sale on Steam sometime later this year. I play NBA 2k 18 quite a bit, more than any NBA 2K game in several years. The gameplay is fantastic and I don't play MyCareer, so the VC issues don't effect me.

But The Show is still my top game. I'm still playing 17 even though 18 comes out in 11 days (early access). I don't dump the hours into it that I used to for The Show series. My 3 year old daughter makes sure of that!

I can become tedious if I grind to much. My gaming habits are varied though so I take breaks to play other games.

Which is also why, unfortunately, I will never grind enough hours to get the really elite players in the different programs.

I don't ever get bored of the game. I usually get a bit burned out by like late August through September and take some weeks away from the game. But I start playing again as soon as the real World Series is over. I then play it until the info for the new game starts to drop and I get hyped and just can't play it anymore due to wanting the new features of the upcoming game.

It's not just you. I enjoy baseball games but just can't get into the show. I'm still playing pro yakyuu 14. Pitching and hitting are much more enjoyable. Just wish Konami would put out a ps4 release other than powerful pro.

I don't get bored of the game. Before I had to "retire" my old Marlins franchise (because I don't have MLB16 for PS4), I played every single game of that from MLB14 to MLB16 and into MLB17 before I got my PS4. Total of 13 seasons, I believe.

I love watching my players develop, watching my franchise evolve, trying to stay on top or raise my prospects for the next generation and watching my stud ace try for things like 3000 Ks and 300 wins, etc. I loved Chris Davis getting 650 HR and still slugging at 41. Being surprised when Chapman up and retired on my Red Sox at the ripe old age of....31 with full health and a great year. I was like WHAT EVEN.

I get frustrated at the mechanics sometimes. But I don't get bored of the game itself. Even if it's "just the same game"...I mean baseball has been "just the same game" for 100+ years. There's only so many ways you can pitch, catch, hit, run, throw. Best they can do is refine those processes to keep being realistic and I think that's what they TRY to do.

I do play other baseball games though (and obviously other genres but probably so does everyone), so maybe that's also part of it. I play an ancient version of PYS, play OOTP sometimes, played SMB and will get SMB 2. Heck, I'd still be playing Baseball Pro '98 if it worked on modern OS.

I literally got bored after the first 5 games. What does Sony need to do to make MLB fresh? It's not adding rain delays and it's not making the crowd attendance react to what's going on the field . I believe it's just that the game is stale now. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful game but Sony never really adds anything to make the game seem fresh.

I think Sony needs to start fresh and build a whole new game. Of course Sony won't do that because they don't need to because it's the only game on the market. But from my view point the game is getting stale and boring.

I am not knocking the game by any means but Sony for me to buy your baseball game you can't just make little upgrades year ater year. I know I will get crap for giving my point of view. Again, I am not knocking the game at all. Thank God Rynolds is not in 18. He was terrible in 17. Matt Vasgersan has to go. He makes the game boring lol. Get rid of Vasgersan for next year please lol.

Can I just ask people in this forum if I am right or wrong that the game gets boring after a while? I don't even play a whole season and I love baseball games. I think Sony needs a competitor in the baseball areana so they have competition. Tell me what you guys think?

Cant say I get bored so much as I do frustrated, over the last couple yrs. Which has more to do with feeling Franchise mode, hasnt improved as much as I thought it would, when they moved on to the PS4 from the PS3. And it has more to do with depth, than actual gameplay wise, as gameplay wise, other than the CPU still being stupid, the gameplay aspect has made some nice strides, and from the sounds of it, gameplay, will take another step forward with the tagging system being reworked. Although not sure that will be enough to sell me, if Franchise hasnt had much done to it.

Re: Do you guys get bored with MLB The Show?

I don’t really get bored with it but I do have phases where I don’t play it.
I usually start playing a lot, then stop playing it and end up picking it up again.

Currently enjoy playing seasons with classic teams, kudos to the community for that.
Have already preordered the next game. There’s always small changes to the gameplay, with lots of newly added animations.
To be honest that is good enough for me.

Sure, there’s a ton of things I want them to change, but it’s hard for them to please everybody.
I’d like more classic stadiums, 100% stutter free ingame and during cutscenes.

I don’t like the fact that – in general – gaming is tuned more and more towards online, but that is where the money is coming from, so an 48 yr old fart like me is just going to have to deal with it.

50 bucks for a game I play most of the year…can’t really go wrong with that.

I enjoyed elements from the 2k game, and am currently playing pro yakyuu spirits 2014 on the ps3.
Both games are not better than mlb the show (in my opinion) but do have some cool stuff that I’d wish the show had.
It’s clear that the show could do with a bit of competition, but I see their effort to keep improving the game.
In the end they are a small team and have a short cycle each year to improve or make changes to the game.
All (or I should say more) about earning money these days.

                                Just my 2 cents.
