What the hell is “service time”? Geez I don’t mean to complain but why are games getting so complicated?

Acuna JR service time is 0000. the game refers to him as being the 'top prospect' the commentators say 'he is in his rookie season' they couldn't even update it to say 'the 2018 rookie of the year'

do you not see what is wrong with that? we might as well have kept playing MLB 18 if we want Acuna going for rookie of the year with Vlad Jr. and Robles

as I said before it means nothing for DD guys but for franchise players which is the whole point of the OP it's a huge deal. and yes it does kill the economy with a few errors to service time like that. Acuna now has a extra year before free agency along with Gueriel Jr who also has 0000 wrongly, it completely changes the entire complexion of franchise.

Boycott the game like me!They've been putting the same game out every year. It's been stale for 10 years. Diamond dynasty has ruined the game just like HUT has done to NHL. There's only so many years you can just keep playing the same game year after year. There is still no create a team or uniform editor outside of stupid diamond dynasty! What a joke!

Boycott the game like me!They've been putting the same game out every year. It's been stale for 10 years. Diamond dynasty has ruined the game just like HUT has done to NHL. There's only so many years you can just keep playing the same game year after year. There is still no create a team or uniform editor outside of stupid diamond dynasty! What a joke!

It is only baseball though. It’s not like SDS can reinvent the game for The Show. I would wager to say that madden is the same way.

Franchise doesn't make much money but it's also very complex and the code is probably so old and tangled that they cant make it better with out starting from scratch.

The thing that's disappointing is that a lot of the issues around the game could be tested by some pretty basic testing. We hear they haven't got many devs. I assume they have SOME testers but maybe they should invest there going forward. Simple regression testing would pick up big issues like service time, or the ridiculous budgeting after they changed contract values. Bizarre.

they are GAME DEVELOPERS this is their job. to FIX and RELEASE a good product. It may be hard for them, but they definitely should be able to do so. Its THEIR JOB

Im a diehard franchise player and you guys are missing out. I agree it’s annoying to have service time issues but between the gameplay and presentation, this game is amazing. Every game feels different and playing the actual game is really rewarding and fun.

I just feel some people will always find something to take them out of the immersion by comparing every detail to real life. Some things you just have to chalk up to it being a video game. Not to say, they shouldn’t have correct service time because they probably should. But I feel bad for people that allow this to spoil this game for you.

I would so much rather have fun and realistic gameplay with great presentation, then every little detail be on point. Ideally there would be both, but every sports game seems to have some sort of inaccurate info in there somewhere.

Boycott? I haven't bought the game yet but I'm not boycotting - just waiting for them to patch the problems with franchise mode. Boycotting guarantees they won't improve the mode. Last year's sales were down significantly and they didn't improve franchise.

I skimmed the article that was released the other day so I could be completely wrong, but I believe that they want to work on Franchise, but if they are going to do it they would prefer to take time and money, which they just dont have enough resources atm, and do mode it’s well deserved justice the correct way, and not just half *** it.

Or maybe this is what I just tell myself to sleep at night.

Curious ... where did you see this? A quick google search really only showed VGChartz and I don’t think they account for digital copies.

That's the article I saw. 200,000 fewer first week sales. Was there a reason for 200,000 people to switch from hard copy to digital?

Yeah. Service time is a huge deal if you plan to play more than one season, as it determines when players are eligible for arbitration or free agency. This is not some obscure thing. Acuna not getting credit for service time last year will essentially delay when he is eligible for arbitration as the Braves jerked him around for a couple weeks to get the extra year of control. But in general, if service time is screwed up, you could end up with players not becoming free agents when they're supposed to. Imagine playing last year and Harper wasn't a free agent after season one. People would notice. This stuff does matter.

Like Albert Almora on the Cubs having 0.073 service time.. when he actually has 2.073 service time. Last year was exactly the same. He had 1.073 in real life but only 0.073 in game. Haven't updated his service time since MLB 17... ridiculous honestly. I reported it last year and this year. So they are clearly aware of these issues. They just don't care obviously.

I personally switched to digital after I stopped driving over an hour to get the game 3 days early.

I’m not saying that those numbers or what you stated was false, I’m just not sure how close to the real numbers that site actually is.

yep and because of Acuna current service time you actually can't give him extended contract in spring training.. if you wanted to give that contract he just got

supposedly though these 2 players will be fixed with a patch. proving they can actually patch and fix any player they wanted to for the entire year... that means add in a face scan fix service time etc. it was shown when they gave Hutch a haircut a few years ago. it patched every single roster and franchise. for it to be fixed

With whatever issues are in the game, my question is...
Why not make more aspects editable?
Make service time editable so we can just plug in a number. Or be about to switch out a player's face for one in the vault or we make ourselves.
Rather than ignoring or missing these issues, let us fix them ourselves.
