Another fielding thread, this is just strange tbh

I dont know if im the only one or what, but fielding issues this year are just strange.

A guy hits a blooper to the right of first base, but instead of the first basement going for it, its the right fielder.... Like why am i even auto selected onto him and then forced to change players...

Same thing with a bunt, instead of the catcher going for it, its the pitcher at odd situations and its throwing me off randomly because im pushing analog forward when i see that its the pitcher highlighted and i should be pushing it downward to charge the pitch.

Also my pitcher is my best infielder... honestly i dont think ive made an error when a ball is hit right back at the pitcher, he always catches the ball.

Just has a strange odd feeling to it this year, like it almost wants us to make mistakes and therefor putting us in much harder situations then it should.

This I can deal with, it's the analog throwing that's I'm mostly upset about.

I think it’s been like that for years with the series. There will be balls hit into the gap but the CPU will automatically have my left or right fielder highlighted even though my center fielder is the fastest and closest. If you can react fast enough you can switch players and make the play.

This drives me nuts. But to be honest it’s my fault for not switching sooner. It’s kind of like a stubborn mental thing. When the ball splits the gap I for some reason try to run it down with the fielder that the cpu chose for me, and then when I realize the other fielder is way better suited to field it it’s too late and it gets clumsy.

Switching in and of itself can feel clumsy or risky when it’s a tight play.

Haven’t seen it happen this year but in the past the same thing would happen with the first baseman. He’d move like 30 feet to his right and cut in front of the second baseman to field a grounder, leaving the pitcher to cover first usually resulting in the runner being safe.

I couldn’t agree more, the analog throwing is completely broken. I’ve resorted to button accuracy; I hate it, feel like it takes away from the fielding aspect of defense. I really hope this is fixed.

Been playing games tonight and it's been an error fest. 5 errors in 6 innings before I quit the game.

Mostly all infield. two throwing errors to first where the 1B couldn't dig it out. Which really shouldn't be an error on him. Then my SS just booted 2 balls, and then another throwing error by my 2B.

I don't know what's going on, bit this isn't normal and should be looked at by SDS.

If you're the Cubs, then it's actually right on the money with all the errors.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

I have played almost exclusively with auto fielding because I know I’ll suck at it and just piss myself off. Pitching and hitting, I’m fine, but I have enough self-awareness to know I’d screw myself over in the field, so I let the CPU handle it.

In the past, it always felt fine that way. Players made the plays they should’ve, with an occasional error that made sense based on their ratings (and I always try to get good fielders, so errors were rare).

This year, though, even with auto fielding/throwing, I’ve seen more errors in a few games than I remember ever happening in 2018. And this was with the exact same team carried over.
