Re: Patches just keep ruining this game

Certain parts of game are "broken", patches "I can't hit now, anybody else have this problem?"

I'm really wondering what the heck people expect sometimes (now this is just a rhetorical question and I'm not saying it to start a new topic). This game is so good and so much "fun". Have "fun". The game offers so many options you should be able to have "fun". You may even have a four game losing streak having "fun".

"Fun" is the word of the day......fun, lol.

You just explained why I don't mess with sliders. mlbts 18 went through several transitions but when they finally finished patching the game it was fantastic in terms of gameplay - and I use manage mode with no user input.

That's a good point. However it works for some but not others unfortunately. For baseball purists or stat guys, sliders are absolutely necessary to get everything to average out to MLB averages. Without them, over many games, many many stats fall short of real baseball (or exceed real baseball). So it can be frustrating to have it change on you once you get the sliders set and a new patch comes out.

I'm not complaining about this patch because i don't think it affected anything. But I have learned to unplug from patches i do not even need, once i find the sweet spot. As a result, last year's game turned into the most accurate and fun baseball simulator i have ever played (and coached or watched...i have a separate set for that), right down to some of the most obscure statistics, and i will be able play it for years going forward with the same type of results - as long as i don't allow it to connect! I basically have it in a Shrine now lol.

The game on the field is fine. I'm not sure a baseball "purist" would be simming the game - and the sim engine is not the same as the game engine. I sim nothing but do sliders impact the sim engine?

I'm early in my 19 franchise but on default sliders in manage mode I'm seeing a good mixture of high scoring games, medium scoring games and low scoring games. That is playing the games - the game engine.

I would be extremely disappointed if I discovered the devs are adjusting gameplay to placate people who sim the game.

My hitting is fine. I am averaging around 4-5 runs a game. My problem is out of the box the exit velocities and line drives felt like they were in a good place. Now everything just feels "floaty" off of the bat. Even with the feedback saying good timing and squared up everything just stays up in the air way to long in my opinion. I have felt this way since 1.08 update but it got noticeably worse after the so called "placebo" patch. Maybe I just really liked the gameplay out of he box and the adjustments since just aren't my cup of tea.

My choice of words were confusing, sorry about that. When i said simulator, i meant it how in the past, the devs used to describe the Show as a baseball sim. But no I don't actually sim my games. (Yes you're right, only a few specific sliders would affect anything in that case) I actually play every game, every pitch. What i meant by simulator, i mean that statistics, percentages, ratios, hit types, zone %, strike %, line drive rates, strikeouts for both human and CPU, per game, hits per game, on and on line up so close to real MLB i couldn't tell the difference by just looking at stats. This doesnt come close to happening without sliders, especially over decent sample sizes. (but they might be unnoticed by people who just prefer a fun game and is concerned only with game-to-game feel. Nothing wrong with that at all) And since with all of these adjustments still feels just as amazing while playing it, thats why i yank the cord.

I also have a set for watching games that perform almost as good across the board.

So, I'm with you on the simming part. For that I would just go straight OOTP.

I haven't felt I needed to adjust my sliders as a result of the patches. I really haven't noticed too much of a difference. I just want them to address the ground out to first bug. I reported that one shortly have launch and it still happens and has cost me three (unearned) errors on my first baseman. The bug, if you've not seen it, makes the first baseman run past first base instead of stepping on it as he get locked in the run animation. And each time it happens my first baseman is slapped with an error. One time when it happened it helped spark a rally when that would have been a the third out. This is an actual bug they need to fix.

(And again, yes, I did report it already. I'm just venting here now.)

I saw people talking about this same bug last year. I remember one even saying that the first baseman kept running toward the dugout and 3 runners scored. But i have seen several talk about him running past first toward the dugout, missing the bag. For sure ii heard it in 18. I actually even heard reference to the bug before 18. I don't know if they ever patched it or not. I use Analog throwing, and I "throw" to first to get him to run to the bag, so maybe that's why i never saw it? Either that or they patched it and now need to re-patch it...

I use the controller. Zone hitting and Meter (some Analog) pitching.

I haven't seen this bug yet, and I have had plenty of grounders to the first baseman. Is he touching the bag and it's not counting, or is he just running past it completely?

I saw this bug. It's on a ball hit right on the line. I pressed O and the first baseman ran past the bag and continued down toward the catcher. Was nothing you could do about it. However, I haven't seen it since. Maybe it was addressed in a patch. If the first baseman was away from the line you could hit O and he'd go over to the bag. So far, fingers crossed.

Maybe I am not experiencing the the first base glitch because I don't press O. I usually just run up to the bag and he automatically touches it.
